Does having your ears pierced affect the reflexology points in the ear?
I have one hole in each of my two ears.

- what?
- Excellent question. Reflexology - the idea that certain pressure points on your body affect your overall health - was developed long before there was any understanding of human anatomy. Now that we have extensive atlases of exactly how the body is put together, it is clear that there is absolutely nothing in your body that corresponds to any of the points identified in reflexology. There is just no physical evidence for it whatsoever. So, piercing your ears cannot affect reflexology points because such points never existed in the first place. Do you think I'm wrong? How would you like one million dollars? James Randi will pay you one million dollars if you can demonstrate that reflexology actually works. Go to www.randi.org for more information.
- ... Hopefully you already realise that Reflexology and Acupuncture are two completely different things. ..... Reflexology is based on the theory that when you stimulate specific nerve endings on certain surface areas of the body,.. that this will help to strengthen the internal systemic areas of the body that are connected with those nerve endings. Acupuncture is a science that is based on the phenomenon of what the Chinese refer to as "Chi" (chee),,... and what traditional Japanese culture refers to as "Ki" (kee),... and what the ancient culture of India refers to as "Prana",.... and what we here in western culture might refer to as "Life Force". There are in fact acupuncture points located in the ear,.. and if you alter the physical structure in a location in the body,.. you will impact the integrity of the acupuncture points or meridians associated with that location. ....... Reflexolgoy deals with the specific nerve endings located in the ear (or other body parts),. ... If you put a hole in an ear lobe you are obviously effecting the nerve endings located in the location where the hole now is found. ... I would not be too concerned about this however, as there are many other locations on the body where one can massage to induce similiar effects as one might desire by massaging the ear lobe.
