Does reflexology really bring on labor?

I have read that reflexology can help bring on labor - has this worked for anyone? I am just about 40 weeks and have tried walking, sex, spicey foods etc. I am not interested in trying castor oil. I have an appt at 10am tomorrow - fingers crossed! Hope is works!!! Just like everyone else - I am totally over it!

  1. Sorry I did not get what you mean by labor.
  2. Good luck! They say that massaging the back of your ankles - around the tendon can cause contractions.
  3. Greetings Ang, Congratulations and the wait is almost over!!! I too was just like you not too long ago. My son was 7 days over due and I had had enough of waiting. But now he is just a few days over 4 weeks old. I googled reflexology towards the end of my term and there is quite a bit of information out there. I went to the local masseuse and they refused to touch me as they warned that if the technique was not done properly it could be harmful to you and your baby. I had already tried everything else before my due date, but nothing happened. When I went to the docs on the 7th day of being overdue at 10am (What a coincidence I know), he did what they call here in Australia, a stripping and sweeping of the membranes (It only took 5 mins to do n not too unbearable). On the way home I bought some castor oil and had 3 teaspoons with orange juice (Which gave me the runs), but then after 2 hrs I had "The Show" and then went to hospital at 11pm that night and gave birth at 12.24am the next day. This was my third pregnancy, so the labor was quick. I hope this helps and all the best. Cheers
