Why is reflexology contraindicated when a person is using alcohol or drugs?
contraindication is the time when reflexology is not advisable because it may cause damage or harm.

- I doubt a reflexologist is going to harmyou unless you have some nasty cysts on your feet.
- I can tell you why it's contraindicated for a massage and I would think that it has the same type of effect. I find this is also true for reiki sessions as well. For massage, it improves circulation and the blood is moving through the body at a higher rate. This has a direct effect on the alcohol that is consumed. It gets into the blood stream faster. This means that you are very like (and it has been proven time and time again) that you will get drunk twice as fast and the after effects, such as a hangover, will be twice as bad. This is also why I've seen many many people get sick if they go work out and then try to drink. It just doesn't work. Again, I'm just going to assume that it has a similar effect as reflexology would. You're still working on the body and moving things quicker through the body.
- Relaxation effect increases intoxication, to the point of nausea/ vomiting. Not attractive. It also interferes with ability to perceive pain and puts both you and the therapist at risk- you for injury, her/him for malpractice.
