- USE A FOOT SPA
- Yes. Get a hold of a reflexology chart and apply moderate pressure (to tolerance) for 10 seconds on and 5 seconds off X ten repetitions. You will probably need someone else to provide the pressure unless you are flexible.
- Its hard to do it on yourself. Its better if you find a person specialized in reflexology. I know certain points on your foot is related to an organ of the body. I never did care to do it on people but have learned it in massage school. You pretty much use consistant pressure - some points might be sore than others. Try to locate a local massage therapist - they might do it or know someone that specializes in it. Hope this helps!!
- Go to your local library and check out books on reflexology and they will show you pictures and maps of the foot and give you directions on how and what to do to feet (even your own) to help ailments and such. You can even google it (or yahoo it...sorry, Yahoo...) "reflexology tips" "how to perform reflexology on yourself" type search terms and you'll be surprised how much stuff is out there FREE for you online and in the library. Have fun!
- You can buy reflexology socks. I think they work well because they tell you exactly what to press and wear. They usually come with a little instruction booklet and come in fun aromatherapy scents. Good luck! :)
- Two great books are: Healing with Pressure Points Therapy by Steve Shimer L.Ac. www.penguinputnam.com Body Reflexology by Mildred Carter and Tammy WeberParker Publishing Company West Nyack, NY 10995 I work on my feet, hands and on body pressure points as needed.
- Although massaging the feet is a little more tricky than working the hands, yes you massage the areas by using firm but gentle pressure in a slow 'catterpillar' movement. when working the endocrine system, use a slightly different technique. for example: with your thumb, press onto the adrenal or pituitary area and rub very gently slightly rotating the thumb. you could invest in some good reflexology books from any major book stores or buy some reflexology socks as these already have the areas mapped out for you. have you considered enrolling on a course? it is very worthwhile and there is so much to learn about it.
