dehydration?

Yesterday I got a reflexology massage on my hands from one of the girls at my school (I go to cosmetology school and she's an esthetician) and apparently it makes you pee a lot that afternoon-night after you get it, to cleanse and detox your system? I guess. Well she forgot to tell me that you're supposed to drink lots of water after you get this massage and I forgot about that and didn't remember until like 10:30 last night. I seriously got to peeing almost every 15 minutes! I had about 4 glasses of water last night and this morning I was feeling crappy and weak. Is this from dehydration? I've had about 4 glasses today (got out of bed at 1:30 or so but had some at 6:30 and sometime around 10) *currently drinking water*

  1. Yes, dehydration can cause a feeling of weakness, headaches. Of course lack of sleep doesn't make the weak feeling any better. Make sure to take it easy and drink enough today
  2. it could be the after-effects of dehydration or your body adjusting to the detox, or something completely unrelated. most people are slightly dehydrated most of the time, so if you were already slightly low it may have hit you worse. just keep on drinking; never less than 64oz in any one day, and that is water. soda, coffee, juice and other liquids are extras. congrats on your upcoming career. take good care of yourself and you will be a good advertisement for your craft.
  3. Hi, when you get a massage it gets the blood flowing to all areas of your body and yes it can cause you to have to void quite often and drinking water is the best thing to do or Gatorade that has many minerals in it is good. You lose a lot of electrolytes voiding that often so you need to rehydrate your body but do not over do it. You can drink too much water but i doubt you have done this. Feeling weak does not mean you are dehydrated even though it is a symptom. It can be from the massage that you received because your body was so relaxed and the pressure used can make you even feel sore from it. I would not worry about this and be sure to eat a well balanced diet and drink plenty of fluids and you will feel better in no time. Good luck to you in your classes. Not everyone likes the massages and how they feel after wards so you may be one of them.
  4. could be.
