Reflexology and Mind over Body?

So last night my feet were killing me. I was on them about 16 hours, and when I came home the, arches in the bottom of my feet were throbbing. So I thought about the Reflexology charts that name each point on the hands and feet and used it to relieve the pain not only in my feet, but also my neck, back and ribs/chest. The problem is, I have no training whatsoever and I can't tell if the charts relieved my pain or if my faith in the charts relieved my pain. What do you think? Is this a simple case of mind over body?

  1. Its a simple case of a foot massage making you feel better. Reflexology is bunk. http://www.skepdic.com/reflex.html
  2. If mind is over body why should you use the reflex points. Just use the mind and do it. Mind has immense powers. But all may not be able to concentrate mind to the extent that is required to use the powers. But that is not the case with reflex or acupressue points. Slight pressures on the points gives out pain in some points on some days and on some other points on some other days. Make your own statistics. Look at the chart, try on thousands and thousands of people for experiments sake, press slightly on the points and ask them about the ailments as diagnosed from the pain. Like press on the eye point or ear point and ask whether they have ear ailment or eye ailment, press on the throat point and ask if they have cough or sour throat, press on the pancrease point and if there is immense pain there, ask whether they are diabetic. My experience is that you meet with more than 90% success in diagnosis. There are 5000 points all over the body and my experience in the last more than 10 years of acupressure practice on thousands of people have been above 90 results as accurate diagnosis and similar percent of relief after application though the cure is somewhat lower than the percentage of diagnostic success,. In ailments which are conditions of the body like cervical problems, back ache, slipped disk etc. responds abundantly well with reflexology or acupressure where as some of the acute diseases do not respond or yield so easily and need medication. For soothing the body, there is nothing better than acupressure and that is basically what the massage technique also is all about. The reflex points indicate the organ which is imbalanced and pressing the points activates their function and body does the rest. An average mind is like a sheep which follows his master. An average mind follows science only. Science is sadly incomplete and inadequate. Science can full fill only the material aspects of the body and cannot be catering to mind as science believes in proof which abstract things do not possess. We know mind is there but science cannot prove mind is there. We know god is there science cannot prove god is there. We know love is there science cannot prove love is there.
  3. Reflexology is not a difficult form of energy work...as long as you were massaging areas, you probably made some sort of impact on your body as a whole. The mind is a very powerful thing, it will play a huge role in any energy work you do and experience. There are certain finger techniques to Reflexology BUT I think a massage is a massage. If your intent is good, your outcome will be good! Here are some good Reflexology chart websites that I find to be the most accurate: http://www.redmondreflexology.com/mypictures/reflexology.jpg http://trinitybodywork.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/foot_reflexology_001.gif Good luck!!!
