A London council spends 90,000 on foot massages for disruptive pupils. Will it work?
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20081103/tuk-schools-to-give-unruly-kids-foot-mas-dba1618.html Instead of handing out ASBOs and excluding violent and aggressive pupils, should we be giving them aromatherapy and reflexology? Maybe we should have a little "whale sounds" music on in class?

- i dont see how it will do any good but if you can get anyone near my feet i could use one lol
- Oh it'll work alright - at making kids realise that the worse they behave, and the lazier they are, the more hand outs they get. This is educating the next generation on how they can milk the system. One day, we will be a proud nation of Rustlers burger eating, council house, teenage mother, dole-walling scum who watch the TV all day while the few honest people left get screwed by the state to pay for it all......I think i'll emigrate next year.
- SHould be oppostite! to good guys!
- Bring back the cane a few bamboo lessons and they won't misbehave again, and the chalk throwing, and the clip round the ears, what is all this junk about rewarding bad pupils, And no I don't care it how things used to be before we descended into this liberalised mumbo jumbo. They need discipline a firm hand to bring order from chaos. What next expel the good students?
- Do they get a happy ending?
- Waste of time and money. Now I have a really revolutionary idea - how about the council spending £90,000 on education?
- Are you out of your mind!! Look if you want kids to listen and pay attention, get them off drugs, get the parents involved, dont be a woosy, challenge their minds, and keep them busy, if they still get in trouble then obviously they dont have enough work to do. Kids that like to bully usually were bullied themselves and need an outlet, find what made them this way first, then tackle the challenge on how to over come and give them rules and limitations. If they break the rules, they should pay just like everyone else. But most important, get the parents involved. "do you remember this.... if you educate a man you feed a family, if you educate a woman you get a nation up and running again!"
- excellent - rewarding disruptive behaviour that sends out a clear message of behave or be punished doesn't it ! what do my well behaved children get a big fat NOTHING ! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
- When I was disruptive in Maths, Mr Broadey roared at me that I was a 'direspectful, annoying little shoite'. When I was talking in PE lessons, Mr Jewell threw a basketball at my head. How things have changed in 12 years.....
- WHAT?!? I am in year 11 at school and with the ASBO kids and rebels we have that will not work. They will just thinks its another joke like they think ASBOs, youth referalls and other warnings and things are.
- I don't know how accurate the figures quoted by Bud Umbrella are but 50 % increase in attendance and a 60 % decrease in exclusions? I've got to say if that is the case then maybe we shouldn't scoff. Although it pains me not to ;-)
- Nooo way...it'll just make 'em become lazy. It's a waste of time! Kids should just get detention after school when they're naughty!!
- This sounds like one of Red Ken's stupid ideas. The police should have their feet massaged and toughed so they can boot the little shites up the ar*e like they used to do years ago.
- Only if they massage them with a ball and chain :)
- Might be better with buttock massage using a birch. Doesn't it p1ss you off that they can find money for this sort of krap and not find money for hospitals and old folks homes.
- Will it work, I doubt it. It's a bit like those free holidays they used to send these disruptive kids on. Well meant by those who are do-gooders, but unlikely to improve the behaviour or attitude of those who it was meant to improve. It would be much better to give £90,000 to Children in Need. To benefit the kids who need real help, not just a bit of complimentary therapy. How about using it for those kids who, through absolutely no fault of their own are hungry, sick, disabled, orphaned, or unloved. and DESERVE the help that £90,000 could provide.
- give them a swift kick up the ass ...that will do the trick and keep doing it till they behave themselves ...and their good for nothing families who are teaching them to "get them before they get you" oh they make me so damn angry
- Head massages by a phrenologist may work better, or to go one better, a lobotomy would probably solve the problem !
- A cane costs about 50p in the local hardware shop!
