Reflexology query? I am training to be a reflexologist and would like to ask any reflexologists out there if they can tell me why the 'balls' of my husband's feet ache for several days after I have worked his feet. He has reflexology once a week. He suffers from chronic asthma and allergic rhinitis and takes tablets all year round for hay fever. I know it is linked but sometimes he has to take paracetamol as his feet ache so much - although it is usually only one foot at a time. Could it be that his chest is so tight. He is going to be my 'case study' so it would help me if anyone agrees and can tell me it will wear off - I would just say that his ankles are not very flexible but he does walk long distances (miles) and is on his feet all day with his job. I hope someone can suggest any relief for him as he finds reflexology very relaxing and doesn't want to stop.
Reflexology and Mind over Body? So last night my feet were killing me. I was on them about 16 hours, and when I came home the, arches in the bottom of my feet were throbbing. So I thought about the Reflexology charts that name each point on the hands and feet and used it to relieve the pain not only in my feet, but also my neck, back and ribs/chest. The problem is, I have no training whatsoever and I can't tell if the charts relieved my pain or if my faith in the charts relieved my pain. What do you think? Is this a simple case of mind over body?
I am looking for the best Holistic Massage training/courses/schools in the UK? Hi, I would like to pursue a career in Holistic healthcare in the UK, focusing on massage/aromatherapy/reflexology but when I type 'holistic massage schools' into search engines I always get a million webpages come up that look decidedly dodgy. I was hoping if any therapist/teachers out there had any recommendations for the best/most cutting edge training available, preferably in London but I am prepared to relocate to anywhere in the UK to get the very best training available. Thank you.
To all reflexologists: a question of growth? I am trained in reflexology and have practised for about 5 years now. It is a fantastic treatment and I love to do extra reading on it. I have over the years learnt techniques to assist with fertility problems and allowing for shortened childbirth etc. Today I read that by stimulating the pituatary point, that increased levels of human growth hormone may be released into the body, thus allowing for an increase in height. While this does sound as realistic to me as other reflexology theories, I`m interested to hear some opinions from other healthcare proffessionals.
where can i study alternative medicine? Do you know of a school or a training center that is reputable in teaching Alternative Medicine? (Massage, Reflexology, Acupressure etc.) And could i self study and still obtain a license?
Can you recommend an acupuncture school? My Japanese friend who is a therapist - trained and licensed in shiatsu (Japanese pressure point massage), reflexology and aromatherapy - is thinking of studying acupuncture in North America. She doesn't have any particular city in mind.

I am in Perth, WA and I wanna do a course in Reflexology or remedial massage but I'm not sure where else to look other then TAFE and my parents don't have the money to send me there. It'll need to be either on the train or less then an hours drive since I don't have my L's or anything yet. Any suggestions? HELP! I believe reflexology works. it has for most of my family and I don't think you people should beat up on something you've never tried. Even I have had reflexology as a treatment. Do Christians use Complementary/Alternative therapies? Is is wrong for a christian to use complementary therapies or train in them, i have been training in massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, indian head massage, hot stones etc for 2 years, but would christians ever use these treatments to get well? If God is the ultimate healer and is the answer to all problems then would i get any clients come to me if they knew about that? and also would they see it as a bad thing if they become a christian 2?
Why does the smell of Lavender Oil make me feel nauseous, and what could this mean? I am becoming more interested in aromatherapy and reflexology (even started training in reflexology last year until a change in family circumstances dictated I could not finish the course), and am aware of the many and diverse properties of Lavander oil. I want to like it, but the smell of lavender makes me feel really nauseous, and if it is too strong I am sick. I am so sensitive to the smell that I can detect the lavender 'notes' in many modern perfumes and colognes and really cannot use them. What could be the reason for my response? (sensible answers only please) EDIT k o - lol, the elderly aunt was a suggestion someone else proffered some time ago, and I'm not discounting it. Strangely enough, I'm not diabetic but I do have bouts of hypoglycaemia if I've not eaten enough protein during the day. Jen D, thanks for your contribution. I agree about the smells of modern cosmetic departments - awful. By the way, I love patchoulli, it's my favourite.
Why does my mother have poor circulation in her feet? I'm a massage therapist in training and was practicing reflexology on my mother's feet when she brought some things to my attention. All her life she's had problems with blood pooling in her feet and causing intense heat, itching and swelling. She says she can remember being 8 years old and nearly crying from the burning feeling. She also has days on the exact opposite of the spectrum where her feet are cold, stiff and numb. There never seems to be a happy medium, but rather always at one extreme or the other. Now 49, she said she didn't realize just how numb her legs were to touch. Her feet were ice cold and turning purple when I started and the increase in circulation soon helped, but after about 15 minutes her feet began swelling from the rush of blood. During the treatment she started having very strange sensations in her legs, everything from shooting pains to RLS-like sypmtoms and twitching. She'd never felt that before. I've looked into several conditions but nothing seems to be an accurate fit. Can anyone suggest possible problems?

Pls. pls. tell me if u like this essay about herbal medication.....? Throughout the world, the use of modern medicine is decreasing as people are now looking for a more natural way to get healthy. People have especially turned to the use of reflexology, yoga and herbal medications amongst the other remedies. Lisa Medical Center is one of the most famous places for herbal medication in India. They supply people with 100% natural pills made out of a variety of herbs. They sell pills and ointments for most of the diseases known to man, including blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, leprosy as well as obesity. The best thing about this center is that each patient is observed by well trained doctors. Before these doctors prescribe any sorts of medication to patients, they make sure that the patient receives a full body check-up and that he informs them about your medical history. If the patient had been taking other medications, they will suggest that he takes the previous medication together with the herbal medication until his health status is stable. Probably the greatest advantage of Lisa pills is that they have helped cure many diseases that would have otherwise been incurable. According to modern medicine, people with certain types of disease need to keep on taking medication for the rest of their lives. In addition to being expensive, these modern medicines have side-effects that eventually lead to serious problems such as liver failure. In conclusion, natural remedies are the best and most efficient ways to treat and cure most diseases. In emergency cases though, the use of modern medicine is extremely helpful. please tell me if i have punctuation mistakes, if it is boring of if there is any way i can make it better and if i am repeating words too many times THANKS AND GOD BLESS U ALL!!!
How long each day you wear ear magnets? I recently purchased 2 different kinds of ear magnets. One kind is very strong and you only wear them about an hour each day. The others are smaller and have a much smaller gauss, they also have cloth tape on them. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long each day you wear these. They would be used for weight loss and smoking cessation at my weight loss center. I am not going to sell them until I am trained in ear reflexology but I would like to start getting familiar with them. I use reflexology, it does work. So does accunpuncture and acupressure. I use forms of them all. And, I think I know about exercise and diet, I am a certified personal trainer and nutrition specialist!
Alternative business, what do you think? Thinking of starting up a hobby business where I go to clients homes, give them spa like facials using organic treatments, massage face and neck with safe arometherapy oils. It will be marketed as part of a make over system suggesting weekly treatments, a bit of pampering and feel good type of thing. The money earned will be used to do a diploma of beauty therapies next year when I can incorporate reflexology, makeup, waxing, tinting etc. My husband is about to do a personal training course and we intend on incorporating the 2 together. All feedback is appreciated!! Location Gold Coast Queensland, would you call someone to pamper you like this? Green tea facials, lavender/chamomile facial massage etc?
why cant i do this as a career? Why does it feel like all my training was all in vain? I have studied doing Complementary Therapies eg. massage, reflexology, aromatherapy etc for two years and nobody wants my services, well a lot of people dont its only a few that do, why does nobody like me or seem interested, i feel like its all been in vain and i am so miserable. Its like God doesnt want me to do this as a career, he makes everything and everyone seem and look fine and like it was all for nothing and will never come in handy, cos he is the healer and when people become christians or if they are they wont use my services because there was no point if God brings peace and healing, what can i do, was it all pointless will i never get to use it once they find out about JESUS, i feel so miserable, i blame God for this i feel its all pointless now, why wont God allow me to do this as a career?
Question for Massage Therapists! massage student & need some clarification on Spa Work!? Hello! I am a student at a massage school in my 3rd week of training. I was hoping someone could help me out because I'm a little confused! My classes consist of a part 1 and part 2. Part 1 is the classroom hours and clinical hours I need in order to get a license with the state. Part 2 is optional, split into classes, and is very expensive. Part 2 is where you learn hot stone, sports, reflexology, chair and such... I want to work in a spa. So my question is... Do I need these extra classes in order to get a job with a spa? and also, Can I practice these types of massages without having any formal training in them? thanks!
what can i do? What can i do? I have trained in massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and many things, but i just feel it was all done in vain, it was pointless, i cant get many clients and i feel like i am htting my head against a brick wall due to suffering with depression and anxiety, i cant cope anymore, i dont think anyone would come to me and i keep getting negative thoughts, i know i am good at what i do but no matter wot i do i cant get clients no matter how i advertise, whats wrong with me, i mean i havent promoted my services as much as i should but i hold that back due to thinking nobody would want to use my services and would think i was weird.
Moving permanently to Canada - how to go about it with these circumstances? Okay, first of all thank you for reading this question. Now that's out of the way, I am confused. I am a 28 year old England citizen, and I am currently taking a course in Reflexology. My plan over the next 4 years, is to take a degree to become an Osteopath. My end intention is to marry my fiance of over 2 years, who currently lives in Minnesota (the bordering state of Canada), have her move here whilst I do my university degree, then move together with her to set up practice as an Osteopath in Canada. This plan must involve us being together in the long run, but what would be the best course of action to do this, to move to Canada together? I know an Osteopath is classed as a professional job, which I believe is required as one of the means of getting into Canada, without being extortionately wealthy and investing money into the country. Moving to America with her first would be probably out of the question, due to the difference in price for foreign students vs the cost of studying in the UK. I also currently hold no driving license, making it very hard to travel around over there. I currently hold no job due to the recession pinching my last job's budget, and I believe to bring her here, I have to be able to prove I am able to support her for 6 months while she is unable to work, so this plan is currently being held off until I am able to find a new job/finish my reflexology course and become a trained reflexologist/self employed. I do understand these things already, just so it helps save time and misunderstanding Any help and guidance, even shared past experience, would be wonderful on this matter. Of course I will thank the most helpful answer in achieving this goal with gratitude and a best answer mark. as an additional query, it states "3112: General Practitioners and Family Physicians" are on the list of wanted professionals, and it states on http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=3&val1=3123&val11=osteopath&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0 that "Osteopaths may obtain a licence as general practitioners." So if as a fully qualified Osteopath, I obtained a GP license, would this be the equivalent to having the "3112: General Practitioners and Family Physicians" job classification?
I feel like I'm falling apart.? I'm 19 and am qualified as an holistic therapist, trained in Aromatherapy, Swedish and Reflexology, but I can't find a job anywhere. Not only that, but lately my friends - who, to be honest, I thought were my best friend since I'd known them since I was 12 - have been ignoring me a lot lately. They'll do things, like go to the cinema or out for a meal, and when I ask them why I didn't get an invite, they come up with "we didn't think you'd want to go". I care my elderly grandmother who has neuropathy bought on by diabetes and it's all just getting on top of me. I have always tried to live by the mantra, "save yourself or remain unsaved" but I'm finding it hard to cope right now. My question is basically this: what is the best thing I can do to drag me out of this rut I seem to have gotten myself into? Thank you. I meant I care FOR my elderly grandmother lol sorry.
