Reflexology Treatment Knowledge Base

Have you ever had a reflexology treatment and what do you think of reflexology? I met a reflexologist many years ago and received treatments, and also became a massage therapist and gave treatments to others and continue to give treatments to myself (both hands and feet). I have had reflexologists tell me that they had people with medical conditions which were considered hopeless by doctors, and then the reflexology treatments healed them. Have you ever received a reflexology treatment? If so, what do you think of it? Do you believe it works?
What do you think of unruly children being given reflexology treatment in schools in the Lambeth area? uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20081103/tuk-schools -to-give-unruly-kids-foot-mas-dba1618.html It seems to me that it pays to be an unruly child to get all the preferential treatment going. We know of agism, sexism, racism, so is this an "ism" against well behaved nicely brought up children?

Does anyone know if the after effects of the reflexology will lessen and get easier the more treatments I have? Has anyone found it beneficial to them? I'd be interested to hear from any reflexologists or M.E sufferers with experience of this. Thanks. :)

Is it ok to have Reflexology done while Pregnant? I have a prenatal massage appointment tomorrow, and I also scheduled a reflexology treatment along with it. At first I just thought it was just extra time on my hands and feet (because they are so swollen!) and I really wanted to increase circulation and just have them massaged more, but after doing a little research there seems to be more than that going on then just relaxation. Does anyone know for sure if it's safe to have reflexology while pregnant? I'm 34 weeks along. Thanks!

Can Reflexology really diagnose health problems before they appear? My reflexology treatment threw up ' kidney problems, liver problems, breast problems, pancreatic problems ( beginnings of diabetes ), malfunctioning thyroid, heart problems. spiritual experience with treatment? This is not the first time as similar has happened before but i carried out a Reflexology treatment on a client today and half way through treatment the client said that they felt as if something was being lifted from them and just burst out crying, after carrying on with treatment the client saw the colour red and felt the lifting experience again, then to end i massage the solar plexus and ask the client to close their eyes and take slow, deep breaths and on doing this the client claimed to see a white light and then started to cry saying that their mum was beside them holding their arms around them?. Comforting the client and asking if they were ok they replied it was amazing and such a relief and commented that they had never seen a "spirit" before? Just curious as to whether anyone else client or therapist has ever had a similar experience? is it just that the body is Relaxing enough for the mind to experience things or is it something with me? your opinion please. Or maybe you think its just the mind playing tricks? lol, i have been told that i have "natural healing abilities" and have had numerous strange experiences. I just get told that i am weird or a witch at home (well i have got black hair, green eyes and left handed? haha). I feel fine in myself, thanks.
Does chiropractic treatment have any health benefits? Is it scientifically proven, just like mainstream medicine? Or is it in the same category as homeopathy, reflexology, acupuncture, etc? Is it reliable? What does it do actually?
feeling intoxicated after treatment? I carried out a treatment of Reflexology and as i always do..i massaged the solar plexus at the end to relax the client (some people feel sleepy, floating or just as if their body is relaxing down with each breath) but this time the client feels intoxicated? the client said it was lovely. A full consultation was carried out and there were no contra-indications to treatment. I made sure the client was fine before i left and gave aftercare advice.I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this experience.
Is there 'scientific evidence' on the effectiveness of reflexology? Keep the sarcy comments and neither am I interested in your opinion on reflexology. Try to answer the question or don't bother. I will report those with a pathological need to be abusive towards questions regarding alternative treatments :-) Would appreciate links to the 'evidence' in question, thanks.

have you had reflexology? whats your opinion? i have recently qulifyed in reflexology, i started the course skeptical of its real effects and was just using it as a stepping stone for doing other therapies. now i am qulifyed i am amazed of its effects, during the course we had to do many case studies and each one i did i was astonished by what i was picking up and even more amazed about how people felt after a course of treatments. although i would still like to study other therapies i have decided to persue reflexology and have applied for the advanced! sorry to blab, but i have been amazed beyond belief. i would like to know if people have had successful reflexology treatments and what ihas been your experience?? how very closed minded of you! you can only give a true opinion of it if you have inface had the treatment and im sure you would be suprised. i thought it was maybe a placebo effect to begian with but the things you can pick up are amazing and very accurate! as for it being like a normal foot massage, you clearly havent had a reflexology treatment, it is very different from just a foot massage. if you havent experinced the treatment then dont answer, im wanting to know peoples experiences and of reflexology and you cant tell me that if you havent experienced it! oh and also just to let you know i have spent a year studying reflexology with qualifyed reflexology teachers and will soon be starting my second year. i have practiced on willing members of public at the school and have worked on friends and family, mist who have been very skeptical and have changed their opinion since having a course of treatments!

How oftern should I go for foot reflexology sessions before the treatments become effective? Adrenal gland treatment through massage? Is anyone aware of massage techniques and pressure points that through hand foot reflexology AND body massage techniques that can help to stimulate an irregular Adrenal gland problem. I feel it is a simple enough idea to stimulate the specific pressure points that the adrenal and other interactive glands are connected to through massage. I cant see where this idea could do anything except help. It will certainly relax the subject physically and mentally at the very least. Any help and advice would be appreciated, I would also use a chakra massage for alignment, fragrances and meditative music as well. I am looking forward to doing a great treatment on a friend and wold like to have some advice.

If tickling had such a positive effect on me, is it okay to ask her to continue this special treatment? To get a full explanation on this question, please read one of my previous questions called, "Can I ask my Masseuse friend to try tickle therapy on me?" ======================================... For many months, I have been suffering from an overwhelming amount of stress to the point that I cried non-stop for many days and was exhausted (I suffer from winter blues every winter). Eventually, it became so bad that I couldn't even laugh and there were many times that I craved so much to laugh, but couldn't. I love to laugh because everyone knows how great it feels. It's healthy and it helps to relieve stress and pain. Anyway, I have heard of the existence of tickle-therapy and after finding some stuff on it on the Internet, I suggested this new type of massage to my friend (whom is also a qualified masseuse) and asked her if she would try combining some tickling with my normal massages/reflexology. I was so happy when she agreed to try tickle-therapy on me because ever since she did, I have felt no more stress, worries, fears or sadness and cannot stop smiling. I can think A LOT more clearly for the first time in months and am finally beginning to get my life back on track. I find it so much easier to smile and laugh now and the more I laugh, the happier and healthier I feel. Before my masseuse friend tickled me during my massage, I could barely even smile because I was feeling so heavily miserable from stress. I was about ready to collapse. I didn't think it would be a problem suggesting this idea to her as she has already tickled me more than once in the past (by accident) and she laughed along with me, thinking it was funny. So, when she was tickling me on purpose during the massage, she was laughing along with me too. Anyway, the moral of my story is, the massage made my body feel relaxed and refreshed, while the tickling helped me to laugh and release my stress and troubles, at the same time, releasing endorphines and Seratonin into my body (the human body's natural happy chemicals). My question is this...if tickling combined with my massages/reflexology had such an AMAZINGLY POSITIVE effect on me, do you think she would agree to continue this special treatment, even if I was the only one she did tickle therapy on?
Please recommend a nice spa for men, in KL.? Hubby is accompanying me to KL for a work assignment, and he has a whole day free. I would like to treat him to a nice, relaxing time at a spa. The works - massage, body treatments, reflexology. Any recommendations? We will be in the city. Thank you.
Can reflexology help back/shoulder pain? What are some other treatments for back pain that have worked for you? I tried physical therapy, chiropractor...I even went to a spine specialist but he was a moron. My pain is mostly in my lower right shoulder...a sharp pain that feels worse when it's cold outside.
Do you have any new-age techniques for back problems? For protruding disks on 4L and 5L. Narrowed spinal canal, and squashed nerves. My friend is really suffering and as her friend i want to research personal accounts and encouraging stories to assist her. I would like suggestions for pain management: reflexology, etc. Instead of medication. Any guidence on effective treatments - not just a back operation! She is young and her general health is poor - as a result of the pain and limited mobility. Your assistance and encouragement is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

alternative treatment for tmj disease? reflexology for tm joints
To all reflexologists: a question of growth? I am trained in reflexology and have practised for about 5 years now. It is a fantastic treatment and I love to do extra reading on it. I have over the years learnt techniques to assist with fertility problems and allowing for shortened childbirth etc. Today I read that by stimulating the pituatary point, that increased levels of human growth hormone may be released into the body, thus allowing for an increase in height. While this does sound as realistic to me as other reflexology theories, I`m interested to hear some opinions from other healthcare proffessionals.

Levitation as a party trick - explaination how this works? I read this on of all things a genealogy (grrr) forum. "When I was at Ragdale Hall last weekend we had a talk from a brilliant speaker , Adrian Hunt , who does Reflexology and other treatments. He spoke about Auras and showed us how to lift a lady of 8st using only our fingers , there were 4 of us -2 lifting under her arm and 2 at her knees , we lifted her several feet off the chair with no effort --it was magic !!!..... We all rubbed our hands together to make a heat, then put them on top of the lady`s head one on top of each other not touching . Then someone counted to 20 , we clasped our hands with 2 index fingers in front and put them under the lady`s knees and armpits then just lifted up . The heat creates a bubble which helps her to rise " Any ideas how best to say "bollocks" in a polite way? Guessing it works because the load is shared? Quite a few other people claimed to have done something similar at school too. Yes Yahoo, I believe that is how it is done, now I am looking for a way to say that this is not 'magic' but simply a trick that does not contradict the laws of science. I don't want to say 'bollocks' since it will probably cause the poor old duck to fall of her chair. And more importantly this is on a site you have to pay to subscribe to and I don't want to waste my membership fee by being banned. Skeptics may be interested in seeing the 'treatment' packages this place offers. http://www.ragdalehall.co.uk/treatment-category.cfm/category_ID/2/title=holistic-therapies
