Has anyone ever tried techniques to induce their own labor? I will be 40 weeks in a few days, I have experience a bit of a bloody show, and just wanna get this baby out of me!! I was wondering if anyone has ever tried any of the home induction methods, such as, Castor Oil, Evening Primrose Oil. Eating spicy foods or pineapple or mango. Drinking basil or oregano tea. Do medical schools in China incorporate traditional Chinese medicine into their subject matter? It seems to me that many of the traditional Chinese approaches such as acupuncture, acupressure, herbal medicine and diagnostic techniques have a lot of merit. Probably they have scientific justification as well, even if it has yet to be fully explained. It would be a shame if it all were to be lost to many of the myths of modern medicine.
Has anyone heard of EFT or NAET to deal with allergy problems? EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques are acupressure type exercise you do to release phobias, allergies etc. www.emofree.com I think or google it. I have also used NAET but I think that it is similar in technique to the EFT but you have to have a practioner do it and it costs money it is a little different I suppose? Any practioners out there? Can you shed some light on the two different techniques? What is the best for allergies?

Natural labor induction... Pineapple or acupressure? I am 40 weeks 3 days. In 5 days my doctor is inducing me at 5 am. I dont want to be induced! =/ I wana go into labor naturally so my experience is much... Less stressful. I know that none of the "do it yourself labor inducing techniques" either dont work for most people...or wont work unless your body is ready. Ive been losing my mucous plug for 5 days now... Huge glops of it. Been having BH for days... Severe pressure/pain in my vagina from the babys head... I never had bh till recently so im hoping my bodys getting ready... =) that would be awesome. Has anyone ever done any of the labor inducing things... that dont consist of eating/drinking nasty stuff. Like eating pineapple or acupressure? I know the acupressure points but havent tried yet. Thats the only thing i know of that is said to "actually work" but i doubt it actually does. lol. It can take up to 48 hours anyways. They say to avoid all those points before your due date because of the fact it brings on labor. But that doesnt mean it actually does. And I know this... What things did you try? Did you know for sure w/e you did is what braught on labor... or do you think it was actually just a coincidence? Experience? Advice? sex doesnt work... lol been walking...all the time. That doesn work either.
Unusual labor inducing techniques? So Im currently 37 weeks and my obgyn said its fine if I were to go into labor now (shes 7 lbs already), and that he will probably be inducing me at 40 weeks anyways (My bp has been gradually rising, and im on modified bed rest as is). I know im going to get comments about how she will arrive when she wants to, which is completely true, but I want to at least try some techniques as long as they aren't harmful. I was curious if anyone has tried anything UNUSUAL and it may have contributed to their labor or if they have heard any stories. I have already heard all of the normal "walk, sex, acupressure/puncture, castor oil, etc." My question is more of a suggest methods that aren't commonly heard of that may actually work.
Anyone tried EFT to overcome addictions to religion, drink, food etc? EFT = Emotional Freedom Techniques using simple tapping on various meridian points (a kind of adapted acupuncture or acupressure technique) combined with acknowledging what those things are that make you feel stress and clearing them.

SEVERE Back Pain and Cramps.Help!? I have right thoracic and left lumbar scoliosis which always causes moderate back pain but today it is unbearable. I got my period yesterday and last night I could not sleep because I hurt so badly. I have never ever had severe cramps but now that they're working with my back pain I have actually been crying from the pain. I am prescribed 400 mg Ibuprofen for my scoliosis, and I usually take a couple and I'm good. When I woke up at four o'clock this morning because I couldn't sleep through it, I took three. I just took one more. I still can't move because the pain is so debilitating. I am on birth control pills so I don't think there's a possibility of me being pregnant. I've tried a heating pad, my ibuprofen, a hot bath, and even acupressure techniques I found on the internet. Nothing works. Please help! As if things weren't bad enough, I didn't mention that about thirty minutes ago I started getting a headache. It feels like my eyeballs are popping out of my head from pressure and I'm having trouble seeing. Maybe it's stress?
help please! my poor wife is 7 months pregnant and she is having big time issues with her sciatic nerve? we have been to the doctor who is going to send her to a specialist but its going to be a month from now. im especially looking for websites that will show acupressure points or techniques, but anything anyone comes up with will be appreciated
What do I have? How do I take care of it without my family having to be part of it? Not a question just yet, sorry. Background: I remember having anxiety issues since middle school (I am not a college senior). I would find myself crying almost every day, even though nobody did anything to cause it. I just worried that much. In fact, I never cry if I'm wronged by someone, unless I find a way to consider it my own fault. I take hours to fall asleep at night because I can't stop worrying, or planning my future. If I don't have a schedule to adhere to, it's much worse. Some nights, I sleep a lot, because it's an easy way to avoid my life. Some nights, I get little or no sleep (because I'm awake worrying, planning, or looking for like minds on Y!A), and then pass out in the car (or course, not while I'm driving) or at someone else's house. During the day, it affects my ability to focus on work (or even to feel like there's a point to doing the work that I have ahead of me). I am hosting a party on Friday, and I am so overwhelmed by thoughts of how the party might fail that I just can't be bothered to prepare for it at all. In a good mood, I'm by no means a lazy person; I used to walk everywhere I needed to go, and learn and compose much more music than I was required to. Even still, I schedule myself on a maximum credit load consistently and maintain a 3.8 GPA, but if you ask anyone close to me, it is maintained with great trouble. Recently, I dropped out of a class because I couldn't bring myself to write the papers (even though they were on topics that interested me, and I'm a good writer), and I couldn't let myself be seen failing a class. Anymore, it is also creeping into the way I interact with people close to me. More than anything, it kills me inside to notice that around the man that I want to marry, I can no longer become comfortable being myself around him. He just visited, and I felt that I was boring him too much (which he said isn't true), so I took him upstairs so we could hang out with my extremely talkative sister. Then I got jealous that they were talking, and I had spent no time alone with him. He left, and I broke down because as I saw it, I failed to make him happy. But when he called me afterward, he said it upset him to see me depressed because then he feels that he failed to make me happy. Seems like a vicious cycle that I'd love to get out of. ***** Now for the questions: Is what I am describing Generalized Anxiety Disorder? Do I need medication for GAD, or whatever this is? If I need medication, must I see a therapist in order to obtain it? What medications are better than others for this situation? What kind of therapy is best? Last, but certainly not least, what must I do to see a therapist or obtain medication? I have medical insurance and a family doctor, but no extra money to fall back on. I have seen counselors in the past, but with most of them, I feel like they simply repeat back whatever I say, or remark on my self-awareness, or tell me that it seems like I've made up my mind. The one who was more than just a shoulder parrot seemed to be fond of using acupressure and related techniques, which didn't seem to work (although I may have just misunderstood the intent). The last one is the one that my family doctor referred me to; the others were from college.

I'm seeking Massage-therapists' replies? Today, I visited The Massage therapist-booth at my local shopping mall. Because I am suffering AN INTENSE PAIN in the bottom of my foot and I prefer to avoid A PRESCRIPTION-RITUAL, I sat in their chair for a quick massage to learn the acupressure point for my ailing foot. Neither of these ladies speak English, so they could not understand my question asking about these techniques. Learning this acupressure point in the side of my neck, I'm planning to perform this technique on myself, rather than pay someone to do it. How should I *most-effectively* massage the muscle (or is this a large tendon?) on the side of my neck? %Should I stroke this muscle upward, downward or should I massage the entire muscle? I know that this is *the target-zone* by my own massaging there and feeling my foot turn numb (which is the feeling I want) after a while. I want to learn THE CORRECT WAY to do this for my own consistency. Thanks for knowledgeable replies. This pain is felt on the inside 1/4 of my heel and nowhere "else" on my foot.

Alternative Healing regulated in Texas, WHY? Is the local healer (Cuenendero) now in danger being illegal? A few years ago a house bill was entered into the Texas State Legislature to regulate Reiki. The house bill was submitted by a person in Houston that was going to set up a monolopy for herself doing Reiki. We defeated that house bill with protest and demonstrations. This time it is the Massage Therapy Board that is trying to regulate all the other types of Health Benefits that may include touch in any way. Reiki, Reflexology, Acupressure, Body Talk, Emotional Freedom Technique, Iridiolgoy, The problem this time is no one is that excited or willing to stop this problem. They all say.. yeah it shouldn't happen, but where is the action for changing the mind of the Governor Rick Perry and having him Veto the Bill. The House Bill 2644 for Massage Therapy, was presented in The House of Representatives, Passed to the Senate.. THEN someone slipped in an amendment to include all the limitations for healing touch and it was approved and sent to the Gov. Office for signature.
What did you do to induce your labor? I have basically tried everything; sex, walking, foot rubs, massage, spicy foods, pineapple, castor oil, acupressure, eating anything I think might aggravate my stomach, relaxation, visualization techniques... nothing is working. I may feel some cramping here and there, but nothing that sticks. I'm 41 weeks and 1 day and seriously ready for this to be done. If I were any earlier I wouldn't bother asking. I was wondering if there were any other techniques any of you used that aren't listed on your typical natural labor induction methods websites? Yes, I'm aware that she will come when she is ready, so if anyone feels the need to give that as a response please save it. I wouldn't be here asking if I was ready to accept that yet. Since 40 weeks is full term and doctors allow you to try self-induction methods after that point I think it's pretty safe to say she is well developed at this point. I had an ultrasound three days ago and the placenta was mature, which I was informed meant that her lungs are fully mature and she is ready to thrive outside of the womb. Again, if you have nothing helpful to contribute then keep your ignorance to yourself. We don't come on here with our questions looking to be criticized. Thanks.
Not Really A Question, But for Ladies LATE in their preg. or past their due date.? I have done alot of reading and research about Maternity Acupressure (NOT acupuncture) and I haven't really found anything bad about it. It's supposed to be 83% effective, when performed correctly and can induce labor in as little as 25 mins., but the average time is within 48 hours. I bought the ebook, and downloaded it, so if any of you want, I am more than happy to send you a copy of the download. It shows step by step procedures, including pictures, so that you know the correct points, and techniques. There is also a website if you'd like to read testimonials from women who've tried acupressure, and just basic info. regarding acupressure. The website is www.maternityacupressure.com And if you want a copy of the ebook shoot me an email. I check my hotmail more than yahoo, the address is megan_major@hotmail.com PRAYING this works for me! I'm so sick and uncomfortable lately! Bleh! Also, this is proven by doctors to be safe for both mom and baby, and can also even help to make labor easier!
How do you manage your stress and emotions? Someone very dear to me is trying to quit smoking and her trigger is stress. So I would like to help her have an alternative for dealing with her stress so she doesnt feel her only option is to smoke. But this is not necesaraly a question about quiting smoking. Its about how you deal with Yourself when you know you are getting out of control. Are there techniques??? do you just breathe deeply? or scream at a pillow? Maybe acupressure? Visualization of "happy place"?? What works for you? haha No Not Punching haha my aunt wouldnt do that, any other sugestions i can use?
Have you ever experienced any of these massages?? PLEASE ANSWER!? For mother's day, I'm treating my mom to a 3-day getaway to Paradise Point Hotel and I want to make reservations at the spa. but I have no idea which one of these to get....Please help! Have you ever experienced any of these massages?? These are the ones I'm going for: Abhyanga Massage A therapeutic massage which blends traditional Ayurvedic massage with European techniques. Abhyanga literally translates to “oil massage.” This rhythmic and deeply relaxing hot oil massage helps to activate the “prana” or life force which stimulates your body’s vital energy. 50 minutes Sacred Stone Massage Surrender to the healing warmth of this ancient massage. Heated volcanic river stones penetrate the deeper layers of your muscles to take you to a new dimension of relaxation. Balinese Massage Be transformed by our signature massage ritual, based on the traditions of Bali. A combination of acupressure, rolling motions and rhythmic strokes relieves tension and promotes total relaxation. Swedish Massage Unwind with this gentle, relaxing massage that improves circulation and vitality. Pressure can range from very light to medium. And also, I'm thinking of getting one of these two as an extra: Ancient Indian Scalp Massage Drift away as all the nerves in your body are soothed through the stimulation of points over the head during this hot oil treatment and massage for the head and scalp. African Shea-Butter Scalp & Hair Treatment Promote healthy hair with these nourishing ingredients. This treatment should be used prior to shampooing and is best left in for three Please comment!
