What if an acupuncture needle is left in? Today I received acupuncture for the first time. About two hours after my treatment was over, I had a stinging sensation behind my ear. I felt an acupuncture needle behind my ear and in a moment of panic I pulled it out. Now my earl canal seems like it is swollen. Also, the place where the needle was has a small and painful bump. I am worried that something might be wrong with my ear.
After inserting acupuncture needles into a patient of mine, each needle abruptly changes angles, why is this? No matter what angle I place them initially, they immediately assume a certain angle (around 30-40 degrees), which seems "pulled down" toward the skin surface. None of my other patients have this dramatic finding. Thanks shamrock65@verizon.net! I'll be sure not to offer you "tretement"...whatever that is...idiot. Thanks moron, I never said I was licensed in acupuncture. In fact I am a student with a panel of patients. Thanks for your comment though, you must be a genius. Give shamrock a call, you two would be friends.

can needles cure you? acupuncture? in taiwan i did acupuncture treatment and took herbal medicine for my insomnia. it helped me calm down. it didnt necessarily help me sleep any better, now im back in america and taking a higher dosage of herbal medicine for sleep, the thing about this type of treatment is that its safe, but slow. its not dangerous and quick like taking drugs for sleep. the doctor told me that treatment has to be consistent and that it may take 2-3 months or half a year to show recovery signs and its true, herbs take longer to treat illnesses and conditions. what do you think? have u done acupuncture and found it beneficial for your health? the doctor would insert 10-15 needles each time for helping me with my sleep and there was also a massage therapist. usually you lay there with the needles inside you for 20 minutes but since i have severe insomnia, sometimes i laid there for 30minutes or 35minutes p.s. i also heard a lady tell me that she also did acupuncture and took herbal medicine to treat her arthritis and it took her a year and a half of consistent treatment for her to get well.and lately, i've slept somewhat better!! i dunno if its cause of the herbal medicine or some other reason. but i had serious insomnia for 2yrs.

Will acupuncture cure pins and needles? Jeez...Tough Crowd Today
Is needle acupuncture basically a placebo? Yes, I know lots of folks say that it works on pain; but here's my take: I work for an acupunturist and have found that he doesn't use needles as much as acupressure. This has led me to believe the acupressure (a kind of massage) is actually what's helping his patients rather than needles. Basically, he knows that and only uses the needles if a patient requests it. lindajun... See, I'm not following you. Here's what the dic says about placebo which is also my understanding of it's meaning: 1. Medicine/Medical, Pharmacology. a. a substance having no pharmacological effect but given merely to satisfy a patient who supposes it to be a medicine. b. a substance having no pharmacological effect but administered as a control in testing experimentally or clinically the efficacy of a biologically active preparation.
Does Acupuncture hurt? im kinda scared of needles.? i have an acupuncture appointment next week. what do they do? does it hurt?
what is the right feeling after acupuncture treatment? I went under acupuncture treatment for about 3 months for enlarged ovaries. Lately the treatment became really bloody, the needles cause big bumps and bruises on the legs around knee area. I feel some discomfort when I walk after the treatment. When I asked my physician, she told me that bleeding is good for my recovery. Is this right? I thought acupuncture should increase blood circulation, with a needle in the middle of the vein, it could cause blood clot in the vein. I know nothing about traditional Chinese medicine nor western medicine. Could someone help me?

POLL:Would you stab yourself with an acupuncture-sized needle for $20? Would you stab yourself with an acupuncture-sized needle for $20? Please note that I am not talking about the kind of needles that acupuncturists use but a needle of the same width and diameter that they use, but one that would hurt a lot more. I would. Would you? Thanks in advance for the answers!

How good does acupuncture work for pain in my? I have pain in hips and lower back, I have had doctors check me tell me they cannot find a reason for it. I am wondering if acupuncture works for hip pain? Pain is a numbing pins and needles and then severe sweating from the pain and when it flares up I cannot walk.
Is dianetics any more crazy than acupuncture? Chinese medicine holds that there are hundreds of points on the body that link to invisible pathways for the body's vital energy, or qi. The theory goes that stimulating the correct points with acupuncture needles can release blocked qi. Here's an explanation of reactive mind: Take the example of child who is bitten by a dog. He experiences quite a bit of pain and some unconsciousness during this. However, also recorded in the reactive mind are the details of her environment, where she was, what it looked like, what she heard, etc. Everything. Get away from that mad dog! Later, as a child or an adult, she sees a similar dog to the one that bit her, or maybe even just hears a dog and is in a similar place - the reactive mind restimulates. She can reexperience the pain in that engram, both physical and emotional. lol I'm not a scientologist by the way but I've never heard of people being harassed over acupuncture.
Acupuncture needle left in dog dangerous? My dog got an acupuncture treatment this morning and was a bit anxious from the procedure, which lasted 30 minutes. Some of the needles came out bent but intact. But later in the day (5 hrs after I left the holistic vet's office), I found one of the needles still in his leg. He's furry so it was hard to find but it came out whole and straight. Holistic vet is now closed for the weekend so I can't ask them for another 2-3 days. Dog seems fine, but is this something to worry about? He can't tell me it hurts. :( Acupuncture works well for human and animal, as those who have tried the procedure can attest. Especially for pain relief. Better than expensive and toxic pain meds from conventional vets. I am not worried about the practice itself but just want to make sure dog is not in danger.

How effective is Acupuncture to heal a right shoulder pain ? I am seriously considering starting to have "acupuncture sessions". How does acupuncture help relieve pain? i have a phobia of needles (extreme fear) and i wanted to know how acupuncture is supposed to help if they are sticking needles in you! would a person like me even be helped by it or be too stressed for it? and please don't say "chi" unless you can provide scientific back up.
Why do I feel sick after acupuncture? I am doing acupuncture for a car accident I was in. Mainly my jaw, neck and chest, (where the air bag hit me). After acupuncture I feel sick and tired and have horrible headaches. My doctor tries using less needles but no luck. For awhile I was getting better but he started on a new area and I am sick again. I always feel dizzy, have headaches, and just feel bad. Do other people have this or is something wrong? And any suggestions to make it better?
Why did I faint during my first acupuncture treatment? I am only 13, and have never had any phobia of needles... I went in because of my tennis elbow problem, and my tennis academy recommended this acupuncturist... We were all skeptical but decided to give it a try... I went in, and he put in about 2 needles and I said I'm fine... After about four needles I felt the elctricity and then I said im really dizzy... All of a sudden it blacked out... I woke up with my mom screaming and I thought it was a dream... The acupuncturist said I had a "Chi Reaction" or something and my face turned white and my eyes rolled into the back of my head... I collapsed and fell on the floor... After ten seconds I woke up... What an experience!!!! Never going back- always thought acupuncture was a bunch of gibberish--
acupuncture-is this a good essay on it? is this a good essay on acupunture need a rating from 0-100 Chinese interest in medicine and health started over 5000 years ago in 3000BC. Chinese have invented and discovered many cures in medical issues. One of those great inventions is acupuncture, which has also helped discover the blood flow in the body. Acupuncture involves inserting small needles into specific areas of the body to relieve pain. The needle triggers the body to adjust the nervous system and other areas of the body. When a needle is inserted it feels like a pinch. It is very affective and has no side effects. Acupuncture is used to give the patient energy (QI). Acupuncture has a very long history and is also used to stimulate (Give energy/motivation) blood flow. Acupuncture began when a Chinese emperor called Fuxi started to talk about its concept which later became more developed. The process in which acupuncture developed is not known in great detail as acupuncture started very, very long ago and can be named one of the longest lasting cures. It is not certain that acupuncture was first made in china, but there is a good amount of evidence that it is true. It is believed that acupuncture was made long ago in the Han dynasty and Stone Age. Legend says that some types of needle similar in some ways to acupuncture were made to relieve warriors in battle, in very ancient times as a start to acupuncture. Research has shown that the first needles used by those of years gone by were made from sharp Bian stone, this changed through the years to bronze, gold and then silver. Historians have found body in Alps with tattoos, some in the exact same areas of acupoints (where a needle in acupuncture is inserted) used today. Chinese believe that if a person is not well or healthy the two opposite forces called the yin and yang are unbalanced. The yin and yang are two opposite forces and is used and religion and beliefs. In terms of acupuncture, Chinese believe when the patient is relieved that the two forces are balanced. Acupuncture has benefited medical research. Where in acupuncture a needle, is inserted it is called an acupoint and a specialist in acupuncture is called and acupuncturist. There are many, many different acupoints in the body which the Chinese (ancient and modern) have perfected (over 1,000). Which research gone further into precise nerves and body parts medical research has been benefited along the way and know more about nerves and blood flow because of the Ancient Chinese. Acupuncture which first started in ancient china started to slowly spread to its neighbouring countries in Asia and some in Europe. Later acupuncture spread to other countries and gained popularity in Australia and other western areas. The US only started using acupuncture till very recently in 1971 where their friendship with China expanded. Acupuncture has not stopped and is still being used throughout the world. In ancient civilisations people used herbs and drugs (anaesthetic) to relieve pain, until acupuncture was introduced, drug use was ceasing. Unfortunately drug use for some people became popular again, but not everyone fell for drug addiction and continued to use acupuncture. Even today many people use drugs not knowing of the great benefits of acupuncture, mainly because of addiction. Even though, countless people have benefited from acupuncture. Western areas of the world have used the same concept of acupuncture, however it is different in some ways. Modern acupuncture has been modified and goes even to precise nerve points in the body. It is even used in major surgery issues and involves technical objects such as magnets and lasers. Acupuncture is practiced widely throughout the world in places such as Europe and Asia. Each country's system is a little different, based on other traditions as well as points used. Some styles use lots and lots of points, while others use very few. Also some use very long needles and others tiny ones. If acupuncture was not introduced many people would still use drugs to relive pain, but again the message has not gone through because of many reasons such as addiction. Acupuncture has benefited medical research greatly. It is widely used and practiced today and has been modified by western areas of the world and china. Acupuncture has been a all out success and continues to benefit people all over the world.
acupuncture for shoulder pain? ok, so i am currently in physio for a sore shoulder i got while working at my new job. the new job involves moving the shoulders a lot, and involves a lot of rough moving. Now at the physio, i have had exercises, muscle stim, and IFC done so far. Today the therapist suggested for tomorrow's appointment about acupuncture. Now just for your information, i am not a big fan of sharp pointy objects on the body, especially needles. I go for blood work every few months and that doesnt bother me any considering i have been doing it for the last 5 years straight. Seeing others with those acupuncture needles sticking out of their bodies make me cringe. Now i also read that there is very little evidence that acupuncture actually does any good for shoulder pain. So would a chiropractor do better in this case? Should i continue with the muscle stim and IFC? FYI the shoulder pain is not as bad as when i started, its more stiff than the familiar hot knife lancing pain. Anyway, any suggestions? by the way, my father tells me he has the same thing a pinched nerve... i dunno if this changes anything on whether it works or not
Can a person be killed by acupuncture/electropuncture? I don't mean if a needle is poked in very deep or if you are zapped with too many volts. I am wondering if there are any acupuncture points or combination of points that can be lethal when activated, or can result in some other negative effect.
How do you do acupuncture? I have some needles and want to stick myself with them. Step by step breakdown on how to do it wins best.
Does acupuncture work for chronic muscle pains? I understand that the needles could hit points on the body that could release endorphines to make you feel better, but what about a chronic or long term relief? Is there any medical treatment associated to accupuncture?
How effective is acupuncture? Acupuncture is a puzzle to me. I can accept that pressure/ needle applications on certain specific sites (chi energy or nerve nodes) can affect direct muscular/ organ responses via nerve electrical manipulation or swelling/ infection dissipation. However claims for weight reduction and quiting tobacco smoking seem streched as these must surely have a large psychological component. How can acupuncture affect what are often mind ailments?
How does acupuncture work? Why does putting needles in a one part of the body help the problem in a different area? Why do mostly the Chinese carry out this medicine.?
Can acupuncture help my nail biting habit? I've tried many method to stop but nothing worked so far. I'm afraid of needle but willing to try this. Can it work really?
Have you ever given yourself acupuncture? My acupuncturist wants me to give myself acupuncture a couple of times a week. She just wants me to put the needles in on three points in my fingers. I thought this was a little weird but I’ll do it! I’m a little nervous about it! I didn’t realize how far the needles go in (About this far -----)! Has anyone ever done this?
Scalp tenderness after acupuncture? I had my first acupuncture session today, including needles into my scalp. They caused a weird (heavy?) sensation at the time, and now my scalp is very sore. Is this normal? How long will it take to go away?
