Does anyone have any reviews on Acupuncture schools - especially in Florida? Does anyone have any reviews on Acupuncture schools - especially in Florida? I just wanted some input on their acupuncture schooling they have received or are currently in. Is your school meeting what you expected and if you have already graduated, did you feel confident in the career? I am considering a concurrent Bachelor’s in Professional Health Sciences and Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine at the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota. Has anyone graduated from there or are currently enrolled? Any information would be really appreciated. Thanks!
What acupuncture school(s) provides the best/most thorough education? I'm in the process of applying to acupuncture schools, and am getting a little spun. I'm searching for an accredited school with strong curriculum that is rooted in traditional chinese medicine (including herbs, tui na, qigong, etc.), and that is taught by qualified faculty (who graduated from schools other than the one at which they're currently teaching). I'm open to schools anywhere in the U.S. Any feedback (positive or negative) about any school would be greatly appreciated.
schools for acupuncture in dallas tx? Where can i find a great and respectable acupuncture school in Dallas, TX? I am about to graduate from my massage therapy school but i want to continue learning more modalities. Thanks! : )
What is the best school for acupuncture/TCM? This is of course subjective, but are there any schools for TCM out there, either in the West or in Asia, that have the reputation for excellence as, for instance, a Harvard or a Yale in other fields?
Why is Tai Sophia School for Acupuncture so expensive? I was interested in changing my career and wanted to go to Tai Sophia for acupuncture. it would cost a total of eight sessions(if they do not change the cost) of 7073.00 which comes out to 56584 to become educated in acupuncture. That is extremely expensive. just the monthly payment on that for a ten year student loan is 500-600 dollars. for TEN YEARS. I'm just wondering how they can charge that much money. any ideas?
Who can tell me where I will study further my acupuncture? I am interesting in acupuncture, so I get my certification from American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine last year, now have clinic. I hope more patients get well from my clinic, so I want to good school to further my acupuncture practice.
Equine Therapy and Acupuncture as a career? I was more interested in Acupuncture but I read you need to be a vet but they are trying to change that. Does anyone know if you still have to be a vet? My 2nd choice is Equine Therapy. I am having a hard time finding much online as far as schools/collages for this go. Any links would be great! I have also heard of magnet and other therapy's I am interested in. Do they go along with Massage therapy? Where can I look into these?
What does a senior in high school do to become an acupuncturist? I've been looking around to see what I can do to become an acupuncturist but I don't exactly know what I have to do. Do I need to go get an associates degree before I go study in an Acupuncture School? or are there schools that allow you to study as soon as you get out of High School?
Acupuncture school? I am planning on going to school for acupuncture in January of '09. What can I do now to get me ready for acupuncture school (books to read, things to study)
Are there any massage schools in Southwest Virginia that give cheap massages? Ok, so I just moved to Virginia from Portland, Oregon. I used to get one hour massages there for $20 at a massage school. Any Virginia residents on here know of any place like that in Southwest VA. Im talking Roanoke, Charlottesville, Lynchburg. I guess I could just call some of the schools tomorrow, but thought this might work too. Oh yeah, Im a full-time student, so I am poor and I like going to the schools rather than spas. Student acupuncture clinics would be awesome too...
Can ONLY DOCTORS practice acupuncture in Egypt? In America, you don't need to have a doctor's degree to practice acupuncture. Acupuncturists would to school for 3-4 years studying acupuncture and then get a certificate that they completed their study and are tested on their knowledge. How about in Egypt? @ Warrior Angel.. I know that. :-) However, can a European or American go to Egypt and practice acupunture with the certification or do they need to be a doctor?
Student Visa for Australian Acupuncture school? My goal is to study acupuncture & traditional Chinese medicine & find a way to live in Australia as soon as possible... I live in Nevada,US right now. What would be good advice or information to accomplish both the soonest? Can I get a student visa for a acupuncture school in Australia. I know Acupuncture is in high demand for a work visa in Australia, so if I can't get a student visa, would studying here, in United States first than transferring to continue my studies work? because studying here for how many years it takes to complete my acupuncture school than to try to apply for a work visa which takes 1 - 2 more years, doesn't sound appetizing or fun at all... I already dislike how their is so much red-tape involved in getting a visa/moving to australia... or, I do have some sales and customer service experience, perhaps applying for a work visa with those needed qualities right now, would take less time to get over there? than to study a bit here & continue over there with a customer service work visa, ect? Please help, thanks!
:I REALLY want to go to Oriental Mecdical/Acupuncture school. What can I do now to prepare? Advice needed!? Hey!! I just joined the group! I really want to go to Oriental/Acupuncture Medical School. I am currently attending college At East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and I am a double major of Biology and History with a Minor in Mandarin Chinese. I just graduated High school last May in the top 10 of my class and now a "sophomore" at ETSU with really good grades and in several honors programs. I really want to help people and after all I have been through with the Medical World (It's a long story. I went over a year w/o a diagnosis, saw over 17+ doctors in my area, and went to the Pediatric Rheumatology Dept. at Duke Medical Hospital in Durham, NC. And was diagnosed with severe Raynaud's Phenomenon and something that is a really rare and misunderstood amplified pain illness called Reflex Nero-Vascular Dystrophy (also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). I still have issues walk and in a lot of pain but at one point, I could hardly walk and almost bedridden. I have been going to Acupuncture and have much progress. I want to go to Western Medical school since I was a little girl and after I went to Duke and seen an Acupuncturist, I have concluded that I want to go to Oriental Medical school. Do any of you all have advice or "Words of Wisdom"? I have been looking up several colleges and thought about the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) in Huston, TX. As one of my options. I have not completely narrowed it down but I really need some direction. Thank you everyone for your support on this matter. I hope to hear from you all soon!! Skep Doc 20, I litterally saw over 17 doctors in variuos fieds of medicine not just Rheumatology. and they knew ablsolutely nothing. I had Raynaud's that affects my entire body @ times and I lose the abilirty to walk. I fell and sprained an anckle wasn't a problem, then 1yr later when on a school fieldtrip and had a 15hr Raynaud's attack and could not walk! QUIT BEIG NARROW MINDED!! HARVARD IS EVEN COMMIING OUT AND SAYING ACUPUNCTURE WORKS! NOT JUST PLACEBO!!!!! Thank you for your opion for you are intitled. I want to go into Acupuncture/Herbology. Also some massage therapy. When in Acupuncture treatments, needels get inserted and they relase endorphins. They releive pain, even Western Med says the SAME THING. As well as for CANCER PATIENTS. WESTERN MED DOESN"T KNOW EVERYTHING!!!! YOU NEED to realize that. Skep doc, It was a western Doc who diagnosed me, yes, but they FAILED TO TREAT ME! I was almost bedridden and Acupuncture gave me my life back. Acupuncture TREATED me. Acupuncture has worked the best by far to TREAT any of my symptoms. No, I'm not going to take you by the hand and show you the enternet. I do a profusion of reading and the Mayo has even came out and said Acupuncture helps EVEN with Cancer. PLZ lets not make a fuss, for that is childish. NO YOU ARE NOT GERGORY HOUSE FROM House M.D.! Also I would like to add that Acupuncture and TCM focuses on treating the body as a "whole" rather than in parts. Western Med doesn't do that. They only treat for instance, a headache rather than the whole person And with the meds they give you, it forces other bodly functions out of balance. Meds Western docs give change body Chemisrty, not body Energy. Oriental Med focus on altering the body "qi" so that whatever is out of balance, (ie Homostasis, Equaliberium whatever trem you want to use, )is balanced not altering body chemicals in the process which is why there are "side effects" with some of the Meds Docs give us.
Has anyone had any success treating ADHD with acupuncture? Has anyone tried acupuncture as a treatment for ADHD? If so, was it successful? How many "treatments" and how often were they given? I am NOT open to discussing whether ADHD is truly a "disease" or not. I am a very concerned mother of an 8 yr. old, 3rd grade boy that has tremendous difficulty focusing, sitting still and learning in school. He is falling behind quickly, as 3rd grade require much more independent work than 2nd grade did. Obviously we are looking for alternatives to the popular treatment (i.e. meds.) for inattentiveness and hyperactivity. I am not asking for any lectures - just advice from other parents who have tried acupuncture. Thanks for your respect.
How long can infectious diseases live outside the body if it is on a needle? I just got poked by a acupunture needle accidentally at my house. One of my roommate is going to acupuncture school and she can't remember how it got in my house and whether this was used at her hospital or not. I'm afraid it could be a needle that was used on a patient (usually low income people that allow students to do this).
Who would you rather get an acupuncture treatment from? a. An licensed acupuncturist with 4 years of schooling and two years of internship. (This is required in order to get a license) b. An M.D. with 250 hours (100 through video tapes and the remainder to lectures and practice sessions - this is required in order for an M.D. to practice acupuncture). (Please explain your opinion! Thanks!)

What is a good, i.e. 100% assimilable, protein drink for building muscle? I have recently begun using the Total Gym for the purpose of loosing weight and gaining strength - I gained quite a bit of weight during acupuncture school. I am looking for a good source of protein that has a high assimilation rate, low glycemic index, is vegetarian, and does not contain artificial sweetners. I located a brand of whey protein, can not remember the name, that is 100% assimilable but it has Aspartame as a sweetner. Aspartame is not that good for the body and I would prefer not to ingest artificial sweetners at all if ppossible. I am not interested in becoming a bodybuilder. I just want to get a bit healthier. I am not a strict vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination. Due to religious practices, I fast from all animal products periodically throughout the year. Other times I definitely lean toward being a carnivore.
Has acupuncture worked for you? I took a stress test at school the other day that asks all these questions and assigns a certain value for a yes answer. The point system is like this : 0 -125 : Low stress levels 125 - 249 : at risk if you have a preexisting condition 250 + : very likely to develop stress related health problems. My score : 515. When my instructor saw it she had a cow. She suggested acupuncture. Has AP worked for anyone? Its sorta expensive so I dont want to shell out the cash if its not gonna help.
what can i do for a back injury while playing tennis? im a high school sophomore that plays for the JV schools tennis team. I play tennis regularly at practice for around 2 hours. I've been playing tennis for about 3 years now, and never had this problem before. it's been a month since my back started hurting and hopefully im looking for people that can help me. well, this back injury hurts whenever I hit a serve (i hit a pretty decent serve for my age, around 105 mph.. could it be my form?), and my backhand (two handed). and as of now it has gotten worse, where it just hurts whenever i move. now, one thing i noticed, it doesnt hurt the same spot everyday, instead the spot where it hruts moves around in the lower back area. What are some things i can do? (im planning to go to the doctor or get acupuncture, but help me anyways.)

Is acupuncture fake or real? My parents are arguing over the fact if this "science" is real or not. I've learned at my school how psuedosciences work. I personally think that these so called acupuncture "doctors" are taking advantage and making profit off of something that isn't real. Is acupuncture real or not? Oh, and on a side note, what about chiropractic too?
Taiji and Acupuncture? I am a chen style taiji practitioner and it has inspired me to go to school to become an acupuncturist. I was wondering if any other martial artist out there have either gone into, or thought about going into acupuncture because of martial arts. Actually, I need an associate's degree before I can go to the acupuncture college here in Gainesville, so I am going to take massage therapy first.
What kind of schooling for alternative medicine? What are some occupations and the schooling you need for alternative medications? Pretty much anything from chiropractor to acupuncture to nutritionist to holistic medicine. I want to help people as a career and I'm a little bit hippy. So if you had any info on degree programs I would really appreciate it thank you!
What products are used in different acupuncture treatments? For a school project I have to create an acupuncture database, with a treatment and a product table included. I have the treatment table, but I'm not sure what products to include other than "needles" - surely there must be more than that! E.g., oils, certain types of needles with different names, etc. Here are the treatments I have included: First Consultation - No products Follow-up Consultation - No products First Acupuncture Session - Needles... etc? Follow-up Acupuncture Session - " Hopi Ear Candle Therapy - Ear Candles Massage Therapy - Oils? Reflexology - Don't know Stop Smoking Therapy - Don't know Facial Revitalization Therapy - Don't know! If someone could help me fill in the blanks I'd really appreciate it. I don't quite understand what the first answerer means - perhaps you've misunderstood? My database has 13 tables, the treatment and product tables are only two of them...
where can I learn traditional Chinese medicine? I have clinic in my country, in my clinic where I am major practice Chinese medicine such as Acupuncture, diagnosis, but I want to know more about Chinese herbal medicine, which school is good for me to learn it ?
Are there jobs out there for 3 or 4 days a week as a physician's assistant? I have 2 very young kids and am considering returning to school to become a physician's assistant. I have an MA in Oriental Medicine and have been practicing acupuncture for 10 years but need more stability. But I don't want to work 5 days a week 8 hours while they are in school. Is there flexible scheduling in this career? Thanks!

Acupuncture for IBS? Does it work? I am 17 and I have IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome) which I am having a LOT of difficulty with and I have tried just about everything from seeing a gastroentoligist (a person who specializes in the abdomen area, I don't know how spell), seeing doctors, taking Xrays, having a colonoscopy, trying pills and supplements. Hopefully I will be able to try Acupuncture depending on what my parents say. I have had lots and lots of difficulty over the past 4-6 years, so I do not even have a driver's permit. Hopefully I will get a one-year job before I graduate from high school, but before that happens, I would LOVE to get rid of this PAIN!!!!!!! Does acupuncture really work for IBS? Has anybody had bad side affects? Has it not worked or not done what it was supposed to? How much would it cost? Is it a one-time thing? If it is not a one time thing, would I have to have it done every year for the rest of my life? IS it WORTH it?!!! This has nothing to do with what I asked but here is a link for a GREAT website for people who like to play games and have fun. There is NO language or anything and if there is on the site the person's account would be FREEZED. It is a FREE website for everyone of all ages! http://www.neopets.com/refer.phtml?username=_icewhisper_

Qi Gong Vs. Acupuncture? I've been doing qi gong for a little bit now and am thinking about doing qi gong or acupuncture for a living. However, If I just do the qi gong, then I don't need to go to school for 3 or 4 yrs to practice. What is the difference between the 2 approaches in terms of their healing ability? Why would someone who knows both acupuncture and qigong choose one over the other when healing a patient? Thanks Jabril, But I don't think you understand what Qi Gong therapy is in this sense. I'm not having the patient do the Qi Gong... I do the qi gong and they simply lie down and relax while I use my (the universes) energy to heal them. N8... there are 2 ways to practice Qi Gong. You can do it yourself, or you can be a master healer. Do some research on google. My qi gong master does healing therapy for people and I know someone else who has their own institute where they do healing for people as well. She does hands on and my master does not even touch the person. I'm sorry but you don't know what you are talking about.
Acupuncture needle broke off and piece of metal has been in my skin for over 5 years. What to do? Over 5 years ago I was in like 7th grade and i was receiving acupuncture. I remember that the needle came out and after that I could always feel the small tip of the needle in my neck. I never told anyone though. I am a senior in high school now and it just came into my mind. It doesn't bother me at all but I still feel it there in the same spot in my neck. Should I do anything about this. Get it removed? thanks Sorry, but it is still there. I remember since it happened I was able to feel the needle. I could squeeze two ends and I would feel the prick of the needle on both sides inside my skin. Ever since then I have felt it in the same spot. It is not as defined as it originally was, but you can feel something there.
Could you take my survey for my english class? Could you please take my little survey for my school how old are you? what is your ethnicity? where are you from? Have you done acupuncture? If so, how did you feel about it? Did it hurt? Do you think it is a respected medical practice in the united states? Why? Do you think it should be respected?why? Thanks a lot guys!
Given the risk of being a chiropractor- Am I on the right track to becoming a successful chiropractor? I really want to be a chiropractor and have more advantage than 99% of my classmates: #1) I dont have any student loans-so I can pay for school in cash--my dad is paying for everything, #2) I have been career tested over and over again and chiropractic seems to be the top choice always (along with shadowing chiropractors--I love it and it just feels right , and #3) I plan on getting certified in all these therapies while I am in school and a year after graduation: 1) Acupuncture-Year 2 2) Certified Clinical Nutritionist-Year 3 3) Bowen Therapy-Finished 4) Active Release Therapy-year 3 5) Gradston Technique-through electives 6) Cranio Sacral Therapy- electives in school 7) Applied Kinesiology 8) Certified Physiotherapist - Year 2 9) Chiropractic Sports Orthopendist- After Graduation 10) Manipulation Under Anestesia (MUA) -After grad

I need help with my acupuncturist school project? For my senior year, I have to do a huge project. I chose acupuncture. At the end of the year, I have to have a "physical product" which represents the time and effort I have put into the project. I need ideas for the physical project. I was thinking of doing a fake acupuncture session and explaining the steps. I can't think of anything else. Thanks for any help!

How long before kidney infection symptoms clear up with proper antibiotics? Or do I have a stone? 13 days ago, I started having UTI symptoms. I don't have insurance, so I went to the local acupuncture school and tried herbs for a few days, but it didn't clear things up. They sent me to a regular clinic, as they found bacteria still in my urine. So, 10 days ago I went to a clinic and was told I had bacteria and blood in my urine and given a week's worth of macrobid. Some symptoms seemed to get better at first, but then I started getting flank pain and the burning returned. I returned and this time they did a culture and sensitivity test and said they were going to treat it as an early kidney infection. I received two shots of antibiotics and a 14-day course of Bactrim. I have not yet heard the results. I felt much better at first, but after a day or two started to have some strong, sharp, crampy pains in my extreme lower abdomen, or groin area. The kidney pain is also still there. The crampy pains only lasted about two days and don't seem to be bothering me anymore. I have some pains on both sides, but not at the same time. Could I actually be suffering from a stone? I swear, I actually feel as if something might be in there, trying to come out, but it could be my imagination, as I have been reading about stones online... Should my kidney pain have been relieved yet by the Bactrim? I have now been on it for four days, and five days of the macrobid before that, plus the shots...
I suffer from depression and have for 14 years but my major problem is chronic fatigue? I am 65 and retired after a lifetime teaching- I have tried many things including acupuncture, cognitive behaviour therapy, diet modification chinese medicine(herbs) supplements such as Korean ginseng- I try to keep my mind active by being involved in things- I help at a school on two half days per week and I teach computers to senior citizens and learn Bridge on another day. This has helped but on the other days I find it more difficult because if I try to read for example, I just fall asleep. I can't do a lot of gardening because I suffer with a very bad back. I go walking half an hour a day. What i'd like to do is get back to golf. I'm waiting for the cooler weather and back strngthening exercises I'm doing to work. I have prostate cancer and a heart problem but I don't worry about these - the cancer is not causing any problems at this popint in time.Any ideas to help withthe chronic fatigue.???? I checked out sleep apnoea- but that cause was ruled out. I am a christian and pray to God every day. This has helped me to keep going when I get rally down. I'm having the problem right now trying to keep focussed on what I'm doing.

How can I be supportive of my husband going back to school, while I am experienceing high anxiety about it.? My husband is the breadwinner, working during the day and I part time at night. We have two young kids and money is tight. He recently discovered that he want's to go to school for acupuncture, a 4 year program. He would work during the day and go to school at night. I am supportive of his decision, but am concerned about how this will affect our life. I will have to find a different job, hardly see him, and once he begins practicing I worry if we can make it. While visiting schools we had a fight already, and I don't want this to tear us apart. Anyone go through this? I need help on being supportive while remaining realistic.
Equine Massage Therapy?? Hi, I am going to school to be certified in Equine Massage Therapy. After this onto school for Acupuncture...Is anyone certified in either of these?? If so, what are some great books you could recommend??
Alternative medicine?!? Im thinking about going to school for acupuncture, (requires a masters degree) but what can I do with a B.S. in alternative medicine while Im going to school for my masters???
super easy to get out of military by being slyly acting dumb? What do u think of this comment that a military linguist made about how great being a linguist is, as posted on this forum? http://dropout50394.yuku.com/sreply/6756/t/joining-the-military.html any inaccuracy?: Another big exception to the general uselessness of military training is language school. If anyone is seriously considering the military, reserve linguist is the only way to go, seriously. I am currently in the reserves, the army paid hundreds of thousands to teach me to speak chinese. My unit isn't deploying till 2013 at the earliest, and I get paid full time salary plus a hefty housing allowance to translate chinese open source documents from my home six hours a day, as well as do one hour of language maintenance (i.e. watch movies in chinese) and 1 hour of PT. I get paid to practice chinese and work out. On top of that, I get paid to go to any further language training I want, including 6 week immersions in Hawaii, 3 week immersions in China, and other cool programs all over the country (like 1 weekend per month an hour from my sister's house, and 1500 miles from my house). On those trips you get a hefty per diem rate in addition to regular pay. When I do move back by my unit (which I will pretty soon) I will have to start working there, but the atmosphere is extremely relaxed. Show up sometime between 8 and 10, leave somewhere between 2 and 4:30. My direct boss lives over 1000 miles away and mainly just cares that I get stuff translated (which is fun). If I decide I don't want to do this anymore, I will go back to school to study acupuncture, and the army will cover the full cost of my tuition, plus 1000 dollars a year in books and fees and close to 2000 dollars a month in housing allowance (it is more in many areas of the country). I'm actually trying to decide between this and going back to study advanced mandarin for a year. My unit even offered to send me back for a second (er..third) language. If you are female it is even better. My wife got 2 years of language and SIGINT training, a TS/SCI clearance, and 80% of the GI bill, and is now getting out with an honorable discharge for pregnancy. It is pretty hard to get out before your contract is up if you're a male and still get an honorable discharge, but unlike most of these people seem to think, it is extremely easy to get out if you don't mind a general discharge (that's right, general-under honorable conditions, not "other than honorable" or "dishonorable"). There are dozen's of ways, consistently fail PT tests, say you can't stop drinking, family care plan issue, etc etc etc. If you are smart, you can get a good deal from the army, but you will have to shovel some bullshit to get through the initial training, and the unit you end up with determines your experience. If you are active duty, you have zero say in the matter. The bottom line is the army will do everything it can to make sure it gets more from you than you get from it. The vast majority of the time it succeeds. *just to clear it up, if you get a bad unit, nothing the army can give you is worth the bullshit. With a good unit like mine though, they treat you well and respect you. They've earned my respect to the point that I actually want to finish my contract now (as opposed to previous plans to get the language and get out) and I feel like giving something back. A lesson of duty, respect and leadership that the majority of the army sorely needs. You do learn a lot about leadership in the army. Usually through examples of what not to do, though there have been a few amazing counterexamples in my career.

Im thinking about getting into acupuncture...? what subjects would i want to study in high school to help what do you have to do to become an acupuncturist(?) i've never even had it done but i've always heard good stories and i hear there's good money in it any info is great :)
Should i live with my friends? me and a group of really close friends are thinking about living in a house together. Most likely me and 4 ish friends (maybe more maybe less) we have our hearts set on somewhere in san francisco. -My first concern is what schools are available for me. they already know what colloges they want to go to, but im not so sure. I want to go to a school that would teach me... a)Alternative medicine (asian acupuncture/acupressure and such) b)Computer Programing/computer engineering c)Architecture -Second, is living with your really close friends as great as it sounds. And FYI we are mostly clean people, me and a girl who wants to stay with us are clean. the others are just normal. i have not gotten in a fight with any of them, and even the arguments are more debates. -Third where should we live, a nice neighborhood, with at least at least 1 parking spot. We will probobly walk place to place alot though. so i the answers i need are -colleges -housing area -good idea? thanks

An Education in Alternative Medicine (chinese, naturopathic..ETC)? I am highly interested in Naturopathy, Herbology, Holistic Nutrition.. the whole Alternative Medicine area. I would like to study chinese medicine because the schools cover all that I am interested in and are usually accredited. However, I have essential tremors that would prevent me from performing safe acupuncture, which plays a major role in chinese medicine and would be hard to bypass. So it looks like a Chinese Medicine education is out of the question for me : (. I have looked into Naturopathic Schools but in many states it is illegal, including my own. Alternative medicine is definitely something I would like to pursue in but I definitely want a full accredited title with hands on experience. Any advice?

My friends head burns intensely from time to time...? I have a friend who's head, more specifically the back of his head, burns intensely from time to time. I'm talking really intense, like he stopped going to school and doesn't do much but sleep all day. He has done acupuncture but it doesn't help much. He has also been to doctors and they have no clear diagnosis...the only thing that makes him feel better is shaving his head so he does it a lot. Anyone have any clue as to what it is or how to make him feel better?

Even though Korea recognized acupuncture and Joe's grand father is the top acupuncture physician there, he can't help. Others specialist can not do much for remedy. Being a father of an autistic kid, his father has a lot of pressure and looking for answer desperately. There finally came to see our MASTER LEONG through high recommendation from a friend. When he first came into our centre everyone in the premise had a shock from his 'super-hyper active behavior'.Jumping and screaming all over the place and zero communication and eyes contact. He is in his own world, very scared and frustrated, until he hits himself on the head continuous for about 10 mins to 30 mins. Master Leong applied Qi Qong and acupuncture treatment to calmed him down. According to Master Leong it is his brain's Qi is not moving smoothly . He calm down after 30 minutes ,then had another session of Qi Qong and acupuncture after one hour. 3 days of treatment went by and they can see that Joe can respond to instruction from his father and has some eyes contact. They went back to Korea because his father has only 3 days of lift from work, but he book for the second visit that is after six months. He took 6 months of herbal medication ( 168 TOLE'S SPECIAL BRAIN'S POWDER )home and a list of do's and done's . After 6 months they came for 30 days of treatment. We saw a lot of different from 6 months back when they first visit us. The father is so happy and told us he have finally found the right place for his son Joe. He said all his relative in Korea said he has improved a lot since he took our treatment and special brain's powder. For the 30 days here everyday he has 2 session of treatment, that is 60 treatments in total. We can see him improving everyday and in the end of the treatment he was about 80% !!! recovered. They have to go home now and promise to come in 12 months time. This time he took 12 months of medication (Tole's Brain's powder) with him. The 3rd visit comes, he was almost 100% recovered!!! when we see him. Still we give him the same treatment for 30 days. In the end of this trip he is quit confident and normal in most of his activities. They went home with a HAPPY HEART !!! NO MORE MEDICINE, WORRY, STRESS, FRUSTRATION, SLEEPLESS NIGHT. This article is written by Miss S.Y. Chong our top student 1995, her practical 3 years assignment in our medical centre. Words from our top student, Miss Chong S.Y. We will hold a INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AUTISM SOON, about THE TOLE'S WAY OF TREATMENT FOR AUTISM. Autism kids do not just need training or only medicine they need THE TOLE'S WAY to get them out of Autism. Over the recent years we have seen more than many cases, off cause some of them did not complete their treatment. All of them improved from the day they came, we open up their door and a-line them to come out off the enclosed world of their own. There is NO point training them without getting them OUT OF THEIR ENCLOSED WORLD. Let us help you to bring your kid into our real world. Even though it may be timely and effort consuming, we have to do it once and for all - for their whole life. The younger they start the faster and better change of getting better recovery. AUTISM Isolated in worlds of their own, people with autism appear indifferent and remote and are unable to form emotional bonds with others. Although people with this baffling brain disorder can display a wide range of symptoms and disability, many are incapable of understanding other people's thoughts, feelings, and needs. Often, language and intelligence fail to develop fully, making communication and social relationships difficult. Many people with autism engage in repetitive activities, like rocking or banging their heads, or rigidly following familiar patterns in their everyday routines. Some are painfully sensitive to sound, touch, sight, or smell. Children with autism do not follow the typical patterns of child development. In some children, hints of future problems may be apparent from birth. In most cases, the problems become more noticeable as the child slips farther behind other children the same age. Other children start off well enough. But between 18 and 36 months old, they suddenly reject people, act strangely, and lose language and social skills they had already acquired. As a parent, teacher, or caregiver you may know the frustration of trying to communicate and connect with children or adults who have autism. You may feel ignored as they engage in endlessly repetitive behaviors. You may despair at the bizarre ways they express their inner needs. And you may feel sorrow that your hopes and dreams for them may never materialize. But there is help-and hope. Gone are the days when people with autism were isolated, typically sent away to institutions. Today, many youngsters can be helped to attend school with other children. Methods are available to help improve their social, language, and academic skills. Autism is found in every country and region of the world, and in families of all racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. Emerging in childhood, it affects about 3 or 4 people in every thousand and is three to four times more common in boys than girls. Girls with the disorder, however, tend to have more severe symptoms and lower intelligence. THE TOLE is dedicated to understanding the workings and inter-relationships of the various regions of the brain, and to developing preventive measures and new treatments for disorders like autism that handicap people in school, work, and social relationships and brain damage or vegetable. What is ADHD? ADHD often prevents children from learning and socializing well. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) refer to a range of problem behaviors associated with poor attention span. These may include impulsiveness, restlessness and hyperactivity, as well as inattentiveness, and often prevent children from learning and socializing well. ADHD is sometimes referred to as hyper kinetic disorder. What are the symptoms of ADHD Attention difficulties A child must have exhibited at least six of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Fails to pay close attention to detail or makes careless errors during work or play. Fails to finish tasks or sustain attention in play activities. Seems not to listen to what is said to him or her. Fails to follow through instructions or to finish homework or chores (not because of confrontational behavior or failure to understand instructions). Disorganized about tasks and activities. Avoids tasks like homework that require sustained mental effort. Loses things necessary for certain tasks or activities, such as pencils, books or toys. Easily distracted. Forgetful in the course of daily activities. Hyperactivity A child must have exhibited at least three of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Runs around or excessively climbs over things Unduly noisy in playing, or has difficulty in engaging in quiet leisure activities. Leaves seat in classroom or in other situations where remaining seated is expected. Fidgets with hands or feet or squirms on seat. Impulsivity At least one of the following symptoms must have persisted at least for six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Blurts out answers before the questions have been completed. Fails to wait in lines or await turns in games or group situations. Interrupts or intrudes on others, e.g. jump into others conversations or games. Talks excessively without appropriate response to social restraint. Pervasiveness of attention difficulties and hyperactivity For a diagnosis or description of ADHD a child would be expected to show the above difficulties in more than one setting, e.g. at school and at home. Problems are not shown 'at home' but are very evident when a child goes to a hospital department. This can happen when parents do not realize that their child's behavior is out of the normal range (perhaps because they have no other children, or they have other children who behave similarly). It may also be because the problems are mild, or because the family has handled the attention lack at home in such a way that it is not evident there is a major problem, or because the child is very young. In those cases it is quite reasonable for parents not to consider that their child has an attention deficit problem. These conditions has a good chance to be treated, it will take time and effort to do it. The Tole's way of remedies for them is not easy and tedious, the good part is it works with many of them. Some adults that just have AD should be able to recovers too with our Remedies. The Tole's Brain Powder Autism ADHD Treatment for all special kids Treatment. Epilepsy can also cause unusual behavior and lead to abnormal perceptions. Hearing problems such as deafness or glue ear can make it hard for a child to follow instructions and make them appear inattentive. Reading problems, making it hard to complete tasks or follow instructions. Obsessive compulsive disorder leads to people following strange rituals that preoccupy their thoughts and distract their attention. Tourette's syndrome involves repetitive, involuntary jerking movements of the body and sudden outbursts of noise or swearing. Autism and Asperger's syndrome often lead to difficulties in understanding and using language. Prolonged periods of insufficient sleep, causing poor concentration. Some children may be very active or be easily distracted or have difficulty concentrating. If these behaviours are relatively mild, they should not be considered a disorder. Others difficulties that occurs alongside Autism ADHD ADHD often occurs alongside other difficulties and is not the sole cause of problem behavior. Children may exhibit temper tantrums, sleep disorders, and be clumsy. Other behavioral problems that occur with ADHD include: confrontational defiant behavior, which occurs in most of these kids. The child loses their temper, argues and refuses to comply with adults and deliberately annoys others. conduct disorders occur in at least 25 per cent of children. The child may be destructive or show deceitful behavior such as lying, breaking rules and stealing. specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia, occur in 25-30 per cent of children. severe clinical depression occurs in about 30 per cent of children. anxiety disorders occur in 30 per cent of children. What causes ADHD? Biological Temperamental, as this contributes to their attitude and personality. Twins suggest a genetic link to ADHD. In 80-90 per cent of identical twins where one has ADHD so does the other. Recent research also suggests there is a greater chance of inheriting the condition from male relatives such as grandfathers and uncles. Brain injuries due to birth trauma or pre-birth problems. The brain structures believed to be linked to the development of ADHD are vulnerable to hypoxic damage during birth. The damage is caused by inadequate oxygen (QI flow) reaching parts of the brain while blood flow is reduced. Environmental conditions: Family stress. Educational difficulties. ADHD diagnosis Observations to the assessment of a child with possible ADHD. There is no single diagnostic test for ADHD so different sorts of information needs to be gathered, such as the following: History of symptoms The precise nature of the difficulties, when they were first noticed, in what situations they occur, factors that exacerbate or relieve them. Medical history Risk factors that could predispose the child to ADHD include difficulties and risks in pregnancy and during birth, for example if the mother was in poor health, very young or drank alcohol or smoked or had an extended or complicated labor. Several medical conditions are known to be associated with ADHD. These include fragile-X syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, G6PD deficiency, phenylketonuria and generalized resistance to thyroid hormone. Accidents, operations and chronic medical conditions such as epilepsy, asthma and heart, liver and kidney disorders all need to be taken in to account. Also of possible relevance is any medication the child is taking, as well as any adverse reactions they have had to medication in the past. Past psychiatric history: Enquiring about any mental health problems the child has had can help rule out depression or anxiety being behind the symptoms. Educational history: This means the level of their ability and what specific difficulties they have, how they function within their peer group and get on with teachers, and any behavior difficulties such as suspensions or exclusions. Family history: The mental and physical health of the child's parents and other family members can be relevant, particularly regarding the incidence of ADHD or depression. Less then 1% ahs the family history but this is one of the research data base. Social assessment: The family's social circumstances, such as housing, poverty, and social support may all have an impact on the child's behavior. Less then 4 % has this problem but it should be taken into consideration. What treatment is available for ADHD? CHINESE HERBS- NATURE’S BLESSINGS FOR AILING SOULS Among the family of herbal Medicines the treatment that has inspired the human souls and has intricately woven into the social fabric of many generations globally are nonetheless Chinese Medicinal herbs. These herbs have not only benefited the ailing human beings but also have been the source of Information and studies for the people of scientific world of today. These Chinese Medicinal herbs found its birth last 3000 years back among the Zhou Dynasty. The recurrent troubles prevailing in the socio economic condition of the people led to their belief that sickness was due to the malevolent action of demonic forces. Incipient herbal medicine was employed to extirpate these unwanted intruders laying foundation of today’s Chinese healing herbs. According to Chinese legend, Chinese father of agriculture and leader of an ancient clan, Shen Nung, tested one by one hundreds of different plants to discover their nutritional and medicinal properties and then on this tradition continued. CHINESE HERBS There are over 3000 different Chinese healing herbs that can be used for medical purposes. Only 300 to 500 of these herbs are commonly used. BENEFITS OF CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINES Chinese healing herbs performs three main functions: •To treat the immediate problem, such as killing bacteria or a virus, •To strengthen the body, helping it to recover, and •To maintain health. DISEASES CHINESE HERBS CURE Chinese healing herbs are commonly used to treat disorders such as: •Digestive problems •Eczema and psoriasis •Fatigue •Gynaecological disorders •Hepatic (liver) disorders •Cardiovascular disorders •Stress There are different herbs for different types of diseases like: •Diabetes Chinese herbs •Chinese herbs for scabies •Chinese herbs for endometrosis As Diabetes has been most common ailment so there are different herbs for Diabetes patients like Diabetic neuropathy among others. Specially for Gynecological disorders there are Chinese herbs for fertility and Chinese herbs for infertility CATEGORIZATION OF MEDICINAL HERBS Chinese Medicinal herbs are categorized in following ways: •Property: Every herb is said to have the property of being either cool, cold, warm, or hot. Cool and cold herbs treat “hot” symptoms, such as fever, thirst, sore throat or constipation. Warm and hot herbs treat “cold” symptoms, such as cold hands and feet. •Flavor: There are seven flavors of herbs; pungent, sweet, sour, astringent, bitter, salty, and neutral. •Channels: Channels (or meridians) run throughout the body, affecting different organs. Each kind of herb affects a particular channel and organ. •Actions: Herbs perform different actions in the body. These are known as lifting, floating, lowering, and sinking. MECHANISM OF CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE IN BODY Chinese treatment is a part of larger healing system called as “Traditional Chinese Medicine” (TCM), which includes among others acupuncture, massage dietary advice and exercise. For maintaining good health we must strive to attain a harmonious balanced relationship between the different systems inside our body, and between nature and our body and when this balance is disturbed we suffer from various diseases. These traditional Chinese Medicine balances our body system with the help of the prescribed Chinese healing herbs. The principle theory includes Yin and Yang, Qi, Blood and Body Fluid theory and Channels and Collaterals theory. YIN AND YANG The ancient Chinese proposed that all living things are sustained by balance of two opposing forces of energy, called Yin and Yang. Together, they make up the life essence, or Qi - a type of energy that flows through the body via invisible channels called meridians. Half of organs and meridians are governed by Yin and the other half are governed by Yang. When Yin and Yang are out of balance in the body, this causes a blockage of Qi and a subsequent illness. Yin and Yang imbalances can be caused by stress, pollution, poor diet, emotional upsets or infection. For diagnostic purposes, Yin and Yang are further subdivided into interior and exterior, hot and cold, deficiency and excess. PHILOSOPHY BEHIND CHINESE HERBAL TREATMENT This treatment depends on the philosophy that we live between heaven and earth and we are miniature universe in ourselves and we have five organs like •Heart" or "mind" (hsin); •2."lungs" or "respiratory system" (fei); •3."liver" (kan); •4."spleen" (p'i); •5."kidneys" (shen) These are called as Latent Phenomena Exessive Wind (feng), cold (han), heat (shu), moisture (shih), dryness (tsao), and internal heat (huo "fire") harms the body, and are referred to as the "six external disease-causing factors" (liu yin). On the other hand, if mood changes within the individual, such as happiness(hsi), anger(nu), worry(yu), pensiveness(szu), grief(pei), fear(k'ung), and surprise(ching) are too extreme, they will also harm the health. These emotions are called the "seven emotions"(ch'i ch'ing). In Chinese Herbal treatment, the six external disease-causing factors, interacting with the seven emotions, form the theoretical foundation of disease pathology. These theoretical models, coupled with the "theory of latent phenomena," are used to analyze the patient's constitution and his illness, and diagnose the exact nature of his overall physical and psychological loss of balance. Based on this analysis, the doctor prescribes method to correct the imbalance. HOW THE HERBAL MEDICINES ARE PRESCRIBED The TCM philosophy proposes that everything including organs of the body - is composed of the five elements: fire, earth, metal, water and wood. The herbs are similarly classified into the five tastes - sweet, salty, bitter, pungent and sour - which correspond to the five elements, for example, since the skin is a metal element Yang organ, it would be treated with a pungent herb Each herbal medicine prescription is a mixture of many herbs tailored to the individual patient. One batch of herbs is typically decocted twice over the course of one hour. The practitioner usually designs a remedy using one or two main ingredients that target the illness. Then the practitioner adds many other ingredients to adjust the formula to the patient's Yin Yang conditions. Sometimes, ingredients are needed to cancel out side effects of the main ingredients. Some herbs require the use of other ingredients as catalyst or else the brew remains ineffective. HOW THE PROBLEM IS DIAGNOSED Diagnosis is by visual assessment, listening and smelling, questioning, and palpation; a single biomedical disease may be associated with a large number of TCM diagnoses, while one TCM diagnosis may encompass a number of biomedical diseases. Once a diagnosis is established, therapy aims at restoring the body's homeostasis by treating the root cause of the disease. CHINESE HEALING HERBS Chinese healing herbs are mainly plant based, but some preparations include minerals or animal products. They can be packaged as powders, pastes, lotions or tablets, depending on the herb and its intended use. Different herbs have different properties and can balance particular parts of the body. Prescribing a particular herb or concoction of herbs means the practitioner’s diagnosis has to take into account the state of the patient’s Yin and Yang, and the elements that are governing the affected organs. SCIENCE VS HERBAL MEDICINE Dr. David Nye pointed out some interesting facts in discussing scientific vs. Chinese Herbal Medicine. He said that scientific medicine is a body of knowledge about the human body, its maladies, and their treatment acquired by the application of scientific methods of study. These methods were developed for science in general and medicine in particular. For Alternate Medicine like Chinese Herbal Medicine, he explains alternative medicine as a name has been given to several schools of folk (non-scientific) medicine whose treatments are typically derived from tradition rather than from scientific study. Ideas often come from a single founder and are then passed along generation next with little change as in the case of chiropractic or homeopathy. New form of treatments may be added but the core theories are not challenged. Alternative medical treatments are often promoted through the use of anecdotal evidence and testimonials. STEPS TO CONSIDER BEFORE GOING FOR CHINESE HERBAL TREATMENT Chinese healing Herbs can act on the body as powerfully as pharmaceutical drugs and should be treated with the same caution and respect. Some herbs can be toxic in high doses; others can cause allergic reactions, many can also suffer from liver dysfunction. Make sure your practitioner is fully qualified. Never abandon your regular medication or alter the dose without the knowledge and approval of your Doctor. Because of the variety of herbs used in Chinese herbal medicine, there is a potential for negative interactions with prescribed drugs. Some herbal preparations contain other ingredients which are not always identified. The FDA has issued a statement warning diabetics to avoid several specific brands of Chinese herbal products because they illegally contain the prescription diabetes drugs glyburide and phenformin. FDA warnings have been issued for PC-SPES and production of that product stopped because the Chinese herbal products also contained prescription drugs (indomethicin, diethylstilbestrol and warfarin). China had no doubt remained one of the leading Civilizations since centuries in arts, social, culture, Economy but the gift of unique herbs that it gave to human beings is cherished, was cherished and will always be cherished by generations ahead. Though modern medicines has took its roots among the people but Chinese Medicinal Herbs has undoubtedly taken its own place into the hearts of millions due to its magical powers of healing. These are the points that I have covered in the Write-up •How does Chinese medicine differ from the scientific herbs? •How do Chinese herbs work? (can describe it in steps) oassesses the balance between yin and yang aspects of body functions ocorrespondence of the ailment to the five phase elemental system of living energy oetc •Health benefits of Chinese herbs •Are several herbs combined in Chinese herbal formula? (explain in brief) •Dangers in using Chinese herbs (e.g. affect liver function) Diagnostic examination before administering Chinese herbs (e.g. visual exam, listening and smelling etc)
