Does acupuncture help a woman increase fertility? I am 42 and have recently been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure with FSH of 48.5. My doctor told me that I would NEVER be able to conceive a baby with my own eggs, and that I should try IVF with donor eggs, which is not what I want to go through. Do you know somebody who could increase fertility and get pregnant with acupuncture treatment? I would appreciate to hear your answer.
Has anyone tried acupuncture for fertility? I have been trying to conceive for a year now and have been considering trying acupuncture. Has anyone tried this before? Is it a total waste of time? No I do not mean fertility shots. I know that fertility drugs work. I mean acupuncture. As in having needles put all over your body. There are special acupuncturist who specialize in fertility acupuncutre which is suppose to stimulate hormones and ovulation?
Acupuncture & Fertility? Does this really help? Hi Ladies~ A friend of mine who was TTC for a few months, turned to acupuncture for a month & she finally got pregnant. A co-worker tried IVF, which didnt take, turned to acupuncture, & you guessed it, got pregnant! I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of acupuncture helping with fertility? Sending all TTC TONS OF BABY DUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank YOU mom of 4!!! You def. give me hope & I will get the book:)) Hope it helps! xx kbc, you are right...it is expensive. I think the first session is $90 than every other after is $65 each visit. Crazy huh? I hope it works out for your sister-in-law too. Keep me posted:)
Has anyone use acupuncture for fertility? what was your results? I've been going for a couple of months and it has definately improved some things. I sleep better, get less back ache, and my BBTs seem to be more within the normal range (I have PCOS) I've got the specialist appoint in 2 weeks and I can't bloody wait to get a move on
Does Acupuncture improve fertility? I've heard that acupuncture can help people suffering from unexplained infertility. Does anyone have experience with this and have had a good result (successful pregnancy)? Also, do the chinese herbs help as well?
Acupuncture for fertility issues....Please Read!? Has anybody gotten acupuncture done for fertility/infertility issues or to regulate your monthly cycles and ovulation? If so did it work for you and how long did it take before you noticed any results or changes? Success stories would also be wonderful to hear! Please share you experiences with me or if you know someones story that you can tell, it would be very helpful to me in my journey to conceive and being patient!
acupuncture for fertility? I have been trying to conceive for about 5 cycles, unfortunately with no luck! I am feeling like I have missed the boat here and starting to panic. I am NOT a believer in “as soon as you stop trying or thinking about it – it will happen” because if it was to happen by chance, there have been more than enough chances in my 36 years (ok…so maybe in the 20 conceivable years)…. Both of us are fertile. There are no medical issues. Just can’t figure out why it hasn’t happened as we have done everything right (and the OPK and monitoring fertility etc are things I never thought I would bring myself to do!). I know there is only about a 15% chance per cycle if all the conditions are perfect, but I mean, how do I miss that 15% chance EVERY time? My question is – has anyone here tried acupuncture for conceiving? Does it help? Also, since I have been trying to conceive, my periods have no longer been normal. They start with very light brown spotting for three days, and then I have a two day period, where before I would be heavy on the first three days and then taper off to brown by day 5-7. Has anyone else experienced this? Before we started trying to conceive, my periods were EXTREMELY normal. Thanks Denise, You make a very strong point don't you! Yes, it's just that after 36 years of never wanting kids and then meeting someone that I want more than anything to conceive with, it's just so frustrating! I'm just affraid that I am too old. I can't wait for 6 years (I don't want to have a baby into my 40's). I would not want to have a child past 36, which is why I feel I am a time bomb waiting. I just want this with my partner so badly. I'm going to try acupuncture this month and keep my fingers crossed. Try not to think about it anymore. Thanks!
Has anybody used acupuncture for fertility? My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 7 months now and my periods were always irregular and painful when I did get them! My breasts were sore and I would get bad cramps and a week of spotting before my period was due. Also my ovulation was off...WAY off. So I have been seeing an acupuncturist for 2 months now to try and help regulate my periods and for fertility and I think It's working, although she said to give it atleast 3 months. My question is, Has anyone else experienced similar issues and gotten acupuncture, and what was the outcome? Also when and if you did get pregnant, did the acupuncture help alot with the symptoms that come along with pregnancy? I have seen changes, It really is amazing how soon you see changes even though they tell you to be patient and give it 3 months! There is a good chance I may be pregnant as we speak although I am giving it another week before I test! I really do HIGHLY recommend acupuncture for infertility!
Has anyone tried acupuncture for fertility problems? I was on Depo-provera for 6 years. Doctors never told me about fertility problems or the bone density issues associated with it. Now I've been off for 3 years and have been trying to conceive ever since. I'm 27 years old now and don't want to be still trying when I'm 40. I only want one child so I really don't want to fertility drugs and end up with triplets or something. I've heard acupuncture I a viable alternative to drugs. If anyone has tried it I would love to hear your results. And if anyone knows of any other alternatives please share. I do realize, as with most studies of alternative medicine, that hard evidence proving or disproving the effectiveness is nonexistent. Fact of the matter is no one is willing to take alternative medicine seriously. This unfortunately includes such things as white willow bark, an herb that is entirely responsible for chemically manufactured aspirin just as opium poppies are responsible for morphine and so forth and so on. In fact whether the modern medical profession would like to admit it or not almost all of modern medicine originally stems from some type of alternative or "snake oil medicine". Now of course this does not mean that all of it is valid by any means. "Leeching" a patient to remove bad blood or evil spirits is of course absurd. However acupuncture is one that does not have enough evidence through valid controlled studies to prove or disprove it's assistance in fertility. Which is why I asked for PERSONAL EXPERIANCE and not opinions. And if you're wondering why I'm so instant on a natural alternative: After years of being medicated without ever being told of the consequences I have been left with kidney and liver damage, osteopenia, and fine hand tremors. Not to mention the fertility problems I'm now experiencing. Yes, pharmaceuticals are very necessary and I do still take those that are, however you can see why I'm extremely reluctant to take any more pharmaceuticals than absolutely necessary. And fertility medicines are not a necessity.
Acupuncture, herbs and fertility? anyone take herbs for fertility? I took a month off from TTC and I'm doing acupuncture and herbs in that month. The acupuncturist wants me to take another month off on top of that to let the herbs work. are the herbs really doing anything?
Acupuncture increases fertility? Have you tried this? Did I do something wrong? Hi! My name is Betty I am 23 years old and I REALLY want a baby! I appreciate everyone answering my questions, even though some of you aren't very nice, still I don't let your negativity get me down! You have to stay positive for baby dust to work! On a recent question, someone suggested I try acupuncture to increase my chances of conception! That sounded like a great idea, but I am poor and can't afford a professional. Instead, I found some sewing needles and starting inserting them....well..."into myself"..IT HURT! But I'll do anything for Baby #1! The problem was, when my husband came home to help me conceive, all the little needles cut his "gravy baster" and he got SOOO MAD! I passed out from all the pain and when I woke up the needles had been shoved in deeper and my boyfriend is gone. This is such a mess. Has acupuncture worked for anyone else? I think that girl was just trying to trick me! Bad Baby Dust to her!
Acupuncture and fertility? One of my girlfriends and I are having fertility problems. We are both going to a fertility specialist and we have both been diagnosed with PCOS. Hers is a little more complicated than mine. She has done 4 IUI's and I haven't done any...just working with glucophage and clomid. Test show nothing is wrong with our husbands. Neither of us have done an IVF either...No luck for either of us so far. We have started thinking about going to see an acupuncturist. If anyone has done this would you please explain the procedure and if it worked or not...How many times did you have to go? Was it completely costly? Just any advice you may have for us would be great! Thank you!
Acupuncture for fertility? Which points did your acupuncturist insert the needles? Mine put needles between my thumb and index finger (vicinity, not exact), another one closer to my wrist, one between the eyes (for stress she said), two on each leg along the inside of the calf and 2 around each ankle. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I am just curious about the different points different acupuncturists use. I was on cycle day 10 during the appt (yesterday). My next appt is this coming Weds and Fri (cycle days 17 and 19). I am trying not to have high expectations or think too much about it. I just want to focus on getting my body healthy and at its best and if a baby wants to grow inside I will be thrilled! She wants to see me twice a week for 3 weeks then after that down to twice a month.
Acupuncture for Fertility? What was your experience? What point in your cycle should you go? Did it work for you? Would love to hear the answers!

Not that you care since you think you are so much better and smarter than I am, but I just wanted to let you know you aren't going to get to this "fool" that you claim the world is over run with.
Acupuncture to Improve Fertility? Hello! I just saw a great post from someone who mentioned that they did acupuncture with infertility, and they got pregnant. I am just wondering if anyone else has done this, what their experience was, if they had any pregnancies/births, and recommendations (things I should or should not do). We have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years, and I have PCOS. I've had two pregnancies off Clomid, and two miscarriages. Thanks for your advice! If I do get PG off acupuncture, it is important to continue it after I get PG?
anyone tried acupuncture or homeopathy with fertility issues? I have had two treatments of acupuncture in my quest for a baby. I have low progestrone and random cycles so this was suggested. The homeopath took a sample of my hair to test and came back to me saying my left ovary functions to 90% capacity and right ovary to only 10% capacity. This has made me sad and not good about my chances. I wish i could leave well alone and leave it up to gods way instead of trying to find answers and solutions because often i end up feeling disappointed and like its never going to happen. Anyone had any experience with homeopathy/acupuncture and can suggest how much i should take on board from them/??? Many thanks x x And also they said my tummy needs warming up and get more blood flow to it...

Has anyone ever used acupuncture to help with fertilty? I have PCOS and just suffered a miscarrage 2 weeks ago. I would like to continue with fertility treatments, however I'm worn out from taking all the hormones and medications. I was thinking of acupuncture- has this worked for anyone?
Has anyone had TTC success through acupuncture? My husband and I have been trying to conceive (ttc) for about nine months now with the use of fertility treatments. Unfortunately, my lining seems to be the major issue and nothing has worked substantially enough to result in a positive pregnancy test. I've read that acupuncture might help, but have never actually heard about it working for anyone I know. Any positive (or negative) experiences out there?
Has anyone tried acupuncture for infertility? Has anyone ever had acupuncture for infertility? I've used it for sinus pain and for muscle tension, but I'm somewhat skeptical for pregnancy. I've been off the pill for 10 months now and still not pregnant. I would like to keep fertility drugs to a last resort.
Acupuncture, how long till it helps? I'm wondering if anyone has done acupuncture for fertility. I've heard it helps but how many sessions should you have under your belt until you do IUI? I'm going to be going in on June 7th and 8th for IUI so I would only be able to get to acupuncture appts. in. My question is.... Is it worth spending the money for 2 treatments or not? We conceived or first with IUI (2nd try) and now we've already did 2 try's and nothing
What is acupuncture for concieving? Me and my DH have been ttc for 15 months. Its so stressful, we went to a fertility doctor for 3 months, and with all the expense decided to try naturally. I have heard of people conceiving from acupuncture> What is that exactly. I have never heard of it until now.
Acupuncture to get Pregnant? I have been trying to concieve for 3 years, and have some very basic fertility treatment (Clomid and Metformin). I have heard some great things about acupuncture and fertility. Have you ever used acupuncture for this purpose? Did it work? How long did it take to see results? Do you have any recommendations for me--things to do or not do, or talk to the acupuncturist about? Thank you!
Acupuncture Question..Please answer!? Has anybody gotten acupuncture done for fertility/infertility issues or to regulate your monthly cycles and ovulation? If so did it work for you and how long did it take before you noticed any results or changes? Success stories would also be wonderful to hear! Please share you experiences with me or if you know someones story that you can tell, it would be very helpful to me in my journey to conceive and being patient!
Acupuncture and herbs? Well i decided doing Acupuncture could not hurt so why not. Has anyone TTC done this and it worked? The place i found is a Acupuncture and Herb Clinic so i would be taking Chinese herb medicine as well. This place treats... Acupuncture for infertility/fertility, male serm count, poor eggs quality, IVF/IUI, hormonal imbalance, age, etc. I am going in for infertility i have missed cycles alot. I been to the doc did the clomid about to go back on clomid again etc. So i was reading up on Acupunture and herbs and thought i should give it a shot! Any story's i would love to read them? Thanks TTC for almost 7 years!
Acupuncture to help getting pregnant? My husband and I have been ttc our second for over 7 months now. I've tried herbs, multivitamins, loosing weight, drinking heaps of water you name it i've tried it. I've recently been reading that Acupuncture will help with fertility and pregnancy. What i wanted to know if you have had similar problems with ttc and tried it. If so how long till you got pregnant? Thanks.. Wow so much negativity, thanks a lot. Well i tried Acupuncture and i came away not only feeling lighter and more calm but i had so much more energy then before, i immediatly felt the 'energy' flowing through my body and as i havn't changed my diet which is pretty healthy i feel amazing after just one visit. Unlike you all i do feel this will help me get pregnant. So thanks anyway!
TTC: Acupuncture, Red Raspberry Leaf Tea....and now light bleeding at cd22? I just had a failed IUI cycle last month (femara and Ovidrel shot). This month I decided to try acupuncture and start drinking red raspberry leaf tea. I usually have a 27/28 day cycle and when AF comes, it starts off brown for 1 day and then full flow. This current cycle, I started light pink bleeding on cd 22, today is cd 23 and i thought that it was going into full flow but now it's back to this very light bleeding. I don't know if this change in my body is from coming off the hormones from the failed IUI cycle, or if it's from the acupuncture / RRL tea. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this after coming off fertility hormones or from acupuncture. Thanks!!!
Natural Fertility Treatment vs Medical Fertility Treatment which is most succesful? Want to conceive FAST!!? I'm 24, been on the pill for around +-8 years. Stopped pill in May which was when I had last period. No period since then. Went to OBGYN everything is perfect except when I went for blood test. Thryoid problem. Hormone TSH is too high. Took eltroxin for 6 weeks made hormones too low. No medication for a month and then back to the doctor. If no period or hormones have not settled he wants to send me to a fertility specialist. who will probably put me on clomid and if that doesn't work then onto IVF. the Fertility specialist sounds good. I also heard of another doctor that specialieses in natural fertility treatment as in homeopathy, acupuncture, chiro etc. I phoned them and they said I should see them first before doing clomid. Now I don't know what to do. I really want a healthy baby FAST so I'm not sure which way will give me the best results. I've currently had 2 acupuncture treatments, taking folic acid and trying to improve diet and excerise. Also taking chinese meds my acupunturist gave me. Has anyone experienced both type of treatments and which was more successful? Which one made you get pregant faster. You can go to http://www.fertiboost.com/home.asp and tell me if you think it's any good!!! Thanks so much!!
ttc and Acupuncture? I was on soulcysters.com and whoa is there a lot of info!!!! They stated Acupuncture is and alternative method to fertility PCOS suffering women...Has anyone tried this w/ success? and if so where do u find such a Dr? how do i find one? google?
Is my husband's fertility low? I have been trying to get pregnant for over 6 months. I have seen my doctor, used ovulation kits and monitors and am also trying acupuncture. I just realized last week that my husband does not wake up with erection in the morning anymore, which i think is a sign of low testosterone. Could my husband's fertility be low?
what procedures do i need to go through before being prescribed clomid from a gp? I had my last depo injection in sept 2005. I went straight onto the pill for 3 months. Since stopping the pill in feb 2006 I've had 1 period in July. I then had acupuncture a month ago as i hadn't had a period since July. The day after acupuncture I got a period but don't know whether it has helped with my cycles or fertility. Don't know how long its gonna take to get my body back to normal to be able to conceive?
Do you know any natural ways to regulate ovulation and menstruation? I am in my early 20's and am extremely irregular. I have been on the pill to regulate my period, but that even doesn't seem to do the job. My GYN told me that "women like me" always had to be on the pill or fertility drugs, but I am not willing to accept this just yet. I am young, healthy, and don't want to be on pills my entire life! I have heard good things about acupuncture but was wondering if anyone else had any natural ways to help with this.
Acupuncture for infertility? My neighbor got pregnant (after she was told it was improbable) after having acupuncture treatments for 3 months. Has anyone else heard of this or had experience with it? I asked my fertility specialist about it, but she was hesitant to encourage anything that wasn't medically related........
TTC Alternative therapy (acupuncture?)? Hi All, Hubby and i have been TTC for a few months now with no success. theres no indication that either of us have any fertility problems - but i was wondering if anyone out there TTC had used/considered alternate therapies? I've got an acupuncture session (was a gift) next week - and the therapist can treat to assist with improving fertility/conception amongst lots of other things. Has anyone else had any experience? Im quite curious - and keen to see what we can do - since coming off the pill i've been very bloated/sluggish - and despite giving up caffeine some time ago, improving diet with no fatty snacking and lots of fresh fruit & veg - and ore exercise etc - am just not feeling in "good" condition??? Any advice/pointers/ideas? Hugs & baby dust xxx
If You DO Acupuncture, will You Please Answer This 10 POINTS EASY? I am going for acupuncture tomorrow and I am considering being treated for one of the following. Is One of these better treated or easier treated by acupuncture? What can I expect or what will it be like?? And PLEASE spare me the "acupuncture is a rip and not real" talk, Im going to try it and see for myself. So which of these: Fatigue-Low Energy Acne Occasional Headaches & Some Back & Neck Pain Fertility (currently TTC) Weight Control (lose just a few pounds) WHICH SHOULD I DO???? :-) thanks, 10 points!!
Acupuncture and trying to conceive, What can you share? I going to a certified acupuncturist soon (hopefully this week) and I am wondering what to expect or what are your thoughts. I am going specifically for fertility benefits. A little background info- Hubby and I have been trying for a baby for 2.5 years now. We are seeing an RE (specialist) and are on a little break as our next step in InVitro Fertilization (IVF) in the spring. We were technically diagnosed with unexplained infertility in March 2008. No real issues with either of us other than the fact it is not happening. We have tried a lot of things up until this time. Everything from trying not to try to charting to ovulation prediction kits to Clomid to ovulation induction through daily injections of Gonal F, etc. So we thought acupuncture is worth a shot during our downtime. Our RE really recommends it to all his patients and especially those faced with IVF. Thanks for any insight you can provide. (I am just waiting on the receptionist at the office to call me back with my appointment.)
Did the Clearblue Fertility Monitor work for you if you've been TTC 1+ year? We've been TTC for over a year, and after really expensive acupuncture treatments (that drained our savings!) I've been thinking of buying the Clearblue Fertility Monitor. I've tried the OPK strips, they're as clear as mud, and my BBT isn't reliable since my waking time differs every day. I've read lots of reviews that say "it worked on the 1st try!" but no one really says how long they've been TTC. So... if you have been TTC for over a year, did it work for you? Thank you! (Related note: my OBGYN is a jerk, and my insurance doesn't cover infertility, so I'm on my own.)
Has any female out there been told they have high fsh levels from their obgyn/fertility doctor? In March 2007, my fertility doctor told me and my husband that my FSH Level was a 14 and that I was able to get pregnant through IVF with donor eggs. Apparently, having a high FSH level means you have low ovarian reserve (quality/quantity of healthy eggs). My husband and I want to have another baby so badly. Do any of you know if acupuncture/herbal formulas really lower your high FSH level? Also, what else could we do to conceive our miracle baby. We do NOT want to go through IVF since it is expensive and #2, it would merely be my husband's sperm and an unknown female's eggs attaching to my uterus so that I may give birth. Biologically, this is not what we want...in that case, you might as well adopt?! RIGHT??? Please help with any information as to how to lower a high FSH Level....thanks so much in advance.
Can I take Xanax (an anti-anxiety) medicine while trying to conceive? OK..Please only answer if you have knowledge on this. I have severe panic and anxiety and the only relief I have found is through an antidepressant called Lexapro and an anti-anxiety med called Xanax. I only take .5 mg a day of the Xanax because I have a VERY stressful job and it gets me through the day. I have "wiened" myself from Lexapro entirely. I am currently trying to get pregnant and have some known fertility issues. I am doing acupuncture and chinese herbs before going the specialist route to help me get pregnant. Will Xanax interefere with ovulation? Is there a safe alternative?
Are you able to help me Please with my essay? I have this thesis, and I have to make it into a persuasive Essay thesis. Can anyone help me PLEASE!!!! “Acupuncture has been able to help me with health problems that Western medicine was unable to touch.” Acupuncture is a safe -effective treatment for many conditions like pain, fertility, and illnesses no matter what age, however, many controversies of Traditional Ancient Medicine will intimidate a person to help them like skin allergies, injuries, medical insurances, cure or just temporary. My instructor said it was still too informative
acupuncture & chinese/korean herbs for TTC? clomid didn't work for me. sad. my progesterone after 100mg was only 1. before i get shipped off to a specialist, I am thinking of exploring eastern medicine. anyone try this route? was it successful? I am also considering vitex or fertility blend from GNC. But intersted in accupuncture first. THANK YOU
Herbs? Vitamins? Acupuncture? (Uterine lining)? I am desperately TTC. I'm 38 and my husband is 42. We had an ectopic pg last January. We've been trying for 2 years. It's incredibly upsetting and life just doesn't seem "normal" because of this dying need to want to be parents. My fertility checks out okay...but there is the issue of low sperm count. The one thing I'm recently concerned about is the fact that I have periods for only 3-4 days and I'm never very heavy. My QUESTION is this: what can I do to enhance a thick uterine lining??? I'll do ANYTHING! Thank you so much to anyone who might be able to help. I really appreciate it.

We finally did it!!!!!? I have been on the trying to conceive board for about a month. My husband and I had been TTC since May and I was so upset every month when I saw that negative sign. My doctor had decided he was going to put me on Clomid next month (since it was too late to do it for September). So, I decided to do acupuncture for fertility...there is a great Dr. in Baton Rouge that does it. He put me on some herbs and I went three times. A couple of days ago I got 2 positive tests!!!! We are going to the doctor next week but I definitely feel pregnant! Just wanted to let everyone know on here because I was always looking for a ray of hope from someone that was successful. Baby dust to all!!!!!

heart bit during pregnancy? Hi, I'm currently under acupuncture treatment for fertility, last Saturday I went for a treatment and before the session the doctor felt my heart bit on my pulse and she said that my heart pulse was just like if I'm pregnant or if I'm almost getting my period, no period has arrived so she suggested to have the test this week sometime, I havent done the test yet.. I will wait till the end of the week.. Does the heart bit change when you fall pregnant? Even at very early stage? Please only serious answer! Thanks!
What's our next move? We can't get pregnant.? We've been trying for three years, been seeing a fertility dr. for two. I've done clomid, fertility shots, HSG, inseminations (4), acupuncture, herbs, sergical procedures, used fertility monitors, basil temperature and had sex any and every way and time of day imaginable. There is 'nothing wrong' with either of us. What do we do? I'm on the verge of giving up. Everyone around me is getting pregnant, it's driving me crazy.
With these hcg levels, are multiples a possibility? I am 5 weeks pregnant after my first month of fertility treatments (Clomid, injectable Follistim, and IUI paired with acupuncture). I ovulated 3 eggs so there is definitely the chance for multiples. I had 3 hcg pregnancy tests done, one every other day. The first level was 189, the second was 416, and the third was 1032. My nurse told me they wanted the hcg level to increase by at least 66%. My increases were much more than that. I'm curious to know what is normal for hcg levels at 4 weeks. I have spoken to other women whose levels were much lower than mine (and their jumps were less drastic) but whose pregnancies progressed normally. What were your hcg levels and did you have successive tests that showed such an increase as mine? Were you pregnant with singletons or multiples? I have a 6 week ultrasound schedule for next week but I'm trying to prepare myself in advance...
Pcos, do all women w/ this sydrome not ovulate??? Okay I was diagnosed with PCOS, I am trying to conceive without the fertility treatments. I am 21 and experimenting to see if I am ovulating before trying acupuncture or metaformin. I was charting my temperatures, but my thermometer broke I am charting my vaginal secretion and checking my cervix. The 1st day of my last period was 4/26/07 and I am all ready having symptoms of ovulation like egg white vaginal fluid and my cervix is high and somewhat open. I am also having lower abdomenal sharp discomfort. My question is this, can I have all the symptons and not ovulate? Also is it possible to ovulate early? I appreciate any comments on this matter. Thank-you

Body temperature and ovulation? I have PCOS. I've been seeing Chinese Doc. to help me ovulate (I also see an OBGYN for fertility treatment & I'm taking Metformin). The Chinese Doctor is giving me acupuncture + herbs & she's now getting me to chart my temperature (first thing in mornings). My temperature is too LOW according to her (hovers around 36 degrees celcius (96.8 faranheit) & she says that it needs to go UP in order for me to ovulate. Does anyone have any experience with temperature & how high it needs to be so that I can ovulate?

TTC has got me waaay down? I am 20 years old, happily married to the love of my life, whom I have been with for 6 years, and have been TTC baby #1 for almost a year now. I have had 3 miscarriages. We've both been checked out for fertility problems by several doctors. We've done every test imaginable...and there's nothing wrong. No fertility problems between us. No excuse for our losses. I have been taking vitamins ever since the beginning of TTC, and so has my husband. We've tried herbal teas, acupuncture, everything imaginable. I haven't been letting it get to me, and I keep the most positive mindframe I can. I keep thinking "next month. it will happen. if it's meant to be, it will be." But this month, when AF showed up, I just broke down. I felt like dying. Honestly. I keep trying to convince myself it will happen, but it just wont. I have nothing to blame it on, no excuse. It's like my body is just letting me down. It's like it doesn't want me to have a baby. I should have had 3 by now, and instead, I have none. And yet...I see stories about stupid teenagers going to abort their unwanted babies, then meeting their friends at the mall 20 seconds later like it means nothing. Maybe my body isn't equipped for this. Maybe I should just give up. My husband is the most supportive person I have ever met in my life. I'm so glad I have him, and I don't know where i'd be without him...but there's only so much comfort he can give me, you know? There's only so much a cuddle can do for a girl. How do you long-time TTC-ers deal with the stress and sadness? thanks everyone who has answered :) it makes me feel better to know i'm not alone. baby dust to all of you, and I will pray for every one of you.

CHINESE HERBS- NATURE’S BLESSINGS FOR AILING SOULS Among the family of herbal Medicines the treatment that has inspired the human souls and has intricately woven into the social fabric of many generations globally are nonetheless Chinese Medicinal herbs. These herbs have not only benefited the ailing human beings but also have been the source of Information and studies for the people of scientific world of today. These Chinese Medicinal herbs found its birth last 3000 years back among the Zhou Dynasty. The recurrent troubles prevailing in the socio economic condition of the people led to their belief that sickness was due to the malevolent action of demonic forces. Incipient herbal medicine was employed to extirpate these unwanted intruders laying foundation of today’s Chinese healing herbs. According to Chinese legend, Chinese father of agriculture and leader of an ancient clan, Shen Nung, tested one by one hundreds of different plants to discover their nutritional and medicinal properties and then on this tradition continued. CHINESE HERBS There are over 3000 different Chinese healing herbs that can be used for medical purposes. Only 300 to 500 of these herbs are commonly used. BENEFITS OF CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINES Chinese healing herbs performs three main functions: •To treat the immediate problem, such as killing bacteria or a virus, •To strengthen the body, helping it to recover, and •To maintain health. DISEASES CHINESE HERBS CURE Chinese healing herbs are commonly used to treat disorders such as: •Digestive problems •Eczema and psoriasis •Fatigue •Gynaecological disorders •Hepatic (liver) disorders •Cardiovascular disorders •Stress There are different herbs for different types of diseases like: •Diabetes Chinese herbs •Chinese herbs for scabies •Chinese herbs for endometrosis As Diabetes has been most common ailment so there are different herbs for Diabetes patients like Diabetic neuropathy among others. Specially for Gynecological disorders there are Chinese herbs for fertility and Chinese herbs for infertility CATEGORIZATION OF MEDICINAL HERBS Chinese Medicinal herbs are categorized in following ways: •Property: Every herb is said to have the property of being either cool, cold, warm, or hot. Cool and cold herbs treat “hot” symptoms, such as fever, thirst, sore throat or constipation. Warm and hot herbs treat “cold” symptoms, such as cold hands and feet. •Flavor: There are seven flavors of herbs; pungent, sweet, sour, astringent, bitter, salty, and neutral. •Channels: Channels (or meridians) run throughout the body, affecting different organs. Each kind of herb affects a particular channel and organ. •Actions: Herbs perform different actions in the body. These are known as lifting, floating, lowering, and sinking. MECHANISM OF CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE IN BODY Chinese treatment is a part of larger healing system called as “Traditional Chinese Medicine” (TCM), which includes among others acupuncture, massage dietary advice and exercise. For maintaining good health we must strive to attain a harmonious balanced relationship between the different systems inside our body, and between nature and our body and when this balance is disturbed we suffer from various diseases. These traditional Chinese Medicine balances our body system with the help of the prescribed Chinese healing herbs. The principle theory includes Yin and Yang, Qi, Blood and Body Fluid theory and Channels and Collaterals theory. YIN AND YANG The ancient Chinese proposed that all living things are sustained by balance of two opposing forces of energy, called Yin and Yang. Together, they make up the life essence, or Qi - a type of energy that flows through the body via invisible channels called meridians. Half of organs and meridians are governed by Yin and the other half are governed by Yang. When Yin and Yang are out of balance in the body, this causes a blockage of Qi and a subsequent illness. Yin and Yang imbalances can be caused by stress, pollution, poor diet, emotional upsets or infection. For diagnostic purposes, Yin and Yang are further subdivided into interior and exterior, hot and cold, deficiency and excess. PHILOSOPHY BEHIND CHINESE HERBAL TREATMENT This treatment depends on the philosophy that we live between heaven and earth and we are miniature universe in ourselves and we have five organs like •Heart" or "mind" (hsin); •2."lungs" or "respiratory system" (fei); •3."liver" (kan); •4."spleen" (p'i); •5."kidneys" (shen) These are called as Latent Phenomena Exessive Wind (feng), cold (han), heat (shu), moisture (shih), dryness (tsao), and internal heat (huo "fire") harms the body, and are referred to as the "six external disease-causing factors" (liu yin). On the other hand, if mood changes within the individual, such as happiness(hsi), anger(nu), worry(yu), pensiveness(szu), grief(pei), fear(k'ung), and surprise(ching) are too extreme, they will also harm the health. These emotions are called the "seven emotions"(ch'i ch'ing). In Chinese Herbal treatment, the six external disease-causing factors, interacting with the seven emotions, form the theoretical foundation of disease pathology. These theoretical models, coupled with the "theory of latent phenomena," are used to analyze the patient's constitution and his illness, and diagnose the exact nature of his overall physical and psychological loss of balance. Based on this analysis, the doctor prescribes method to correct the imbalance. HOW THE HERBAL MEDICINES ARE PRESCRIBED The TCM philosophy proposes that everything including organs of the body - is composed of the five elements: fire, earth, metal, water and wood. The herbs are similarly classified into the five tastes - sweet, salty, bitter, pungent and sour - which correspond to the five elements, for example, since the skin is a metal element Yang organ, it would be treated with a pungent herb Each herbal medicine prescription is a mixture of many herbs tailored to the individual patient. One batch of herbs is typically decocted twice over the course of one hour. The practitioner usually designs a remedy using one or two main ingredients that target the illness. Then the practitioner adds many other ingredients to adjust the formula to the patient's Yin Yang conditions. Sometimes, ingredients are needed to cancel out side effects of the main ingredients. Some herbs require the use of other ingredients as catalyst or else the brew remains ineffective. HOW THE PROBLEM IS DIAGNOSED Diagnosis is by visual assessment, listening and smelling, questioning, and palpation; a single biomedical disease may be associated with a large number of TCM diagnoses, while one TCM diagnosis may encompass a number of biomedical diseases. Once a diagnosis is established, therapy aims at restoring the body's homeostasis by treating the root cause of the disease. CHINESE HEALING HERBS Chinese healing herbs are mainly plant based, but some preparations include minerals or animal products. They can be packaged as powders, pastes, lotions or tablets, depending on the herb and its intended use. Different herbs have different properties and can balance particular parts of the body. Prescribing a particular herb or concoction of herbs means the practitioner’s diagnosis has to take into account the state of the patient’s Yin and Yang, and the elements that are governing the affected organs. SCIENCE VS HERBAL MEDICINE Dr. David Nye pointed out some interesting facts in discussing scientific vs. Chinese Herbal Medicine. He said that scientific medicine is a body of knowledge about the human body, its maladies, and their treatment acquired by the application of scientific methods of study. These methods were developed for science in general and medicine in particular. For Alternate Medicine like Chinese Herbal Medicine, he explains alternative medicine as a name has been given to several schools of folk (non-scientific) medicine whose treatments are typically derived from tradition rather than from scientific study. Ideas often come from a single founder and are then passed along generation next with little change as in the case of chiropractic or homeopathy. New form of treatments may be added but the core theories are not challenged. Alternative medical treatments are often promoted through the use of anecdotal evidence and testimonials. STEPS TO CONSIDER BEFORE GOING FOR CHINESE HERBAL TREATMENT Chinese healing Herbs can act on the body as powerfully as pharmaceutical drugs and should be treated with the same caution and respect. Some herbs can be toxic in high doses; others can cause allergic reactions, many can also suffer from liver dysfunction. Make sure your practitioner is fully qualified. Never abandon your regular medication or alter the dose without the knowledge and approval of your Doctor. Because of the variety of herbs used in Chinese herbal medicine, there is a potential for negative interactions with prescribed drugs. Some herbal preparations contain other ingredients which are not always identified. The FDA has issued a statement warning diabetics to avoid several specific brands of Chinese herbal products because they illegally contain the prescription diabetes drugs glyburide and phenformin. FDA warnings have been issued for PC-SPES and production of that product stopped because the Chinese herbal products also contained prescription drugs (indomethicin, diethylstilbestrol and warfarin). China had no doubt remained one of the leading Civilizations since centuries in arts, social, culture, Economy but the gift of unique herbs that it gave to human beings is cherished, was cherished and will always be cherished by generations ahead. Though modern medicines has took its roots among the people but Chinese Medicinal Herbs has undoubtedly taken its own place into the hearts of millions due to its magical powers of healing. These are the points that I have covered in the Write-up •How does Chinese medicine differ from the scientific herbs? •How do Chinese herbs work? (can describe it in steps) oassesses the balance between yin and yang aspects of body functions ocorrespondence of the ailment to the five phase elemental system of living energy oetc •Health benefits of Chinese herbs •Are several herbs combined in Chinese herbal formula? (explain in brief) •Dangers in using Chinese herbs (e.g. affect liver function) Diagnostic examination before administering Chinese herbs (e.g. visual exam, listening and smelling etc)
TTc with PCOS? Hi, Any one form the UK and currently trying to conceive with help form the NHS? I was diagnosed with PCOS in Aug 2007 and been on Metformin since. My periods are all over the place but are getting back to being more often insted of once or twice a year. I'm also having acupuncture and I think thats why there slowly coming back i'm on CD31 and no sign of ovulation as yet. I started on 500mg 3x a day then nothing was happening they upped my dose to 750mg 2x a day. Still no change so when I went back in Jan 08 I asked about being put on Clomid but they wouldnt do that till I get refered to the fertility dept because they said I needed to be closely monitored on Clomid. I have waited since January and I have finally been given an appointment in 2 weeks at the fertility clinic. What can I expect on the first visit? As they already know I have PCOS will they start me straight on Clomid or will they have to do more tests first.
Do you think I even ovulated? ? A little background info: Today is cycle day 18 for me. I tend to ovulate between days 17-19. I had EWCM on cycle day 16 (I know it was not semen because we hadn't bd'd in a few days). My fertility monitor did not detect it, yet when I read the sticks the line was darker than normal but not as dark as the test line-this issue with this is that I ordered these sticks online and when UPS delivered them they placed them in a spot I never look so they ended up spending the night outside and it was in the 30s! They could have been damaged. I took an ovulation test yesterday and the line was dark but not as dark as the test line. Today my temperature jumped above the coverline to 98.1 and it had been 97.5 for the past two days (indicative of an estrogen surge that accompanies an LH surge). So, do you think I ovulated and the test sticks are just damaged? I also just started acupuncture and that could have sped up my ovulation as well. I only had ovulation paids on the night of CD 16 and part of the day yesterday (CD 17). Usually this pain lasts 2-3 days. Any insights? I meant to type ovulation "pains" not ovulation "paids" sorry for the type! Momwanna: They usually work for me, that's the strange part. Maybe you have a really short LH surge. The surges can last anywhere from 6-48 hours. I think mine tends to be longer...so either these tests are faulty because of being outdoors or the acupuncture really sped up the ovulation process for me. I am hoping it is the latter... The fertility monitor has worked for me for the last 5 months, but not this month.
Acupunture and infertility, can you help? Any info?
