America's Acupuncture Points? For those who have necessary attention-spans only. AMERICA'S ACUPUNCTURE POINTS PART 1: Striking the US where it hurts Excerpts: "...A noted Chinese theorist on modern warfare, Chang Mengxiong, compared China's form of fighting to "a Chinese boxer with a keen knowledge of vital body points who can bring an opponent to his knees with a minimum of movements". It is like key acupuncture points in ancient Chinese medicine. Puncture one vital point and the whole anatomy is affected. If America ever goes to war with China, say, over Taiwan, then America should be prepared for the following "acupuncture points" in its anatomy to be "punctured". Each of the vital points can bring America to its knees with a minimum of effort..." Two IMPORTANT articles detailing China's "long-term" strategy. Nah...don't wake up...there's nothing to worry about...back to dysfuctional wives...or whatever alternative kookyness. http://www.atimes.com/atimes/China/HJ19Ad01.html The POINT ! The point of the Asia Times article is that China and Russia (w/ Iran's collusion) have been working for decades to defeat the US, darnit. Why won't anyone bother to READ the link before yappin' ?. Suzan is the only one who gets it, and I'm w/ her on the hope that we're ahead of the curve. But face it, this is hardball to the nth degree. Sorry ! I'm a US citizen, a Bush voter twice, and concerned about anti-US agendas. "I need a vacation". Yahoo is probably not the right place to air this material. Please accept my honest apologies dingdong you've chosen a fitting name. What can I say beyond that. America has kept the world from falling apart for the last seven decades or so, civilization -of the Western kind- cannot afford losing this anchor. Otherwise better realize that the Chinese state puts a creepy spin on the term "human resources" by an active commerce of organs, involuntarily donated by hapless victims of the "system". Google "China falung organ". Think hard, reflect, learn. Please.

Is it possible to communicate with a person over a long distance only with the use of your intention? I have read about a doctor who was able to stimulate certain acupuncture points of his patients over a long distance only due his intention to achieve that. Any REAL evidence to support existence of Meridians? I work in healthcare and have many colleagues who used acupuncture points as reference. With recent studies showing that it makes no difference whether needle insertion is on a meridian point or not, is there any REAL evidence to support the existance of acupuncture points? Getting earlobe pierced and it's (negative?) effect from an acupuncture standpoint? I was discussing with my friend about getting my ear pierced (the lobe). He brought up that his mom's friend said that piercing through the lobe affects a major acupuncture point associated with well-being or something. She said that if she had known that she would have never got her ear pierced. Now, I've done some searching on Google and could not really find anything about it having a negative effect. Could anyone shed some light? Thanks in advance.
Why do some acupuncture skeptics use bad science to support claims of "nothing more than placebo"? Why is it okay for some acupuncture skeptics to use bad science, incorrectly abridged media reports, and incorrect assumptions as to how Acupuncture works to support their claims of "nothing more than placebo"? The most recent and common studies acupuncture skeptics use to support their claims have: 1. Used controls that have not been tested, and have not been proven to be inert, therefor are not definitive placebo controls. For example the GERAC back pain study *never* tested their control procedure. It actually uses what most acupuncturists would consider an active treatment for the supposed "sham" procedure. 2. Use abridged media reports and not the actual study where even the *researchers admit in their own study*, such as in the "toothpick study", that they do not understand the mechanisms at work, and are therefor unable to make a *definitive* statement that placebo effect is at work. 3. Use studies that work on the assumption that the needle is something more than a tool. Stimulating acupuncture points is the treatment, the needle is the tool of efficiency. Using a needle, a toothpick, or your thumb can and will illicit a response. The needles allow us to stimulate multiple points rapidly and continuously through the treatment; meaning the acupuncturist can use his/her time more efficiently. Meanwhile, in the studies, both the Verum Acupuncture groups and the [unproven, and untested] "Sham" Acupuncture groups out perform standard non-surgical care by significant percentages... I think a couple of you are still missing the absolute key factor: the studies do not have a *proven* placebo for the control. The studies have a fatal flaw to proving placebo effect. The controls are *assumed* inert and never tested. It cannot be claimed as placebo if it is not been proven to be inert. If anything, one class of studies do prove one thing. Traditionally indicated points work to similar effect as individualized treatment where alternate point selection is used. Which falls perfectly within the parameters of the meridian connection paradigm. If you stimulate acupuncture points, you arguably do not have a placebo. If you are actually inserting needles, you arguably do not have a placebo. **The two variables specific to acupuncture are sticking needles through the skin, and the locations on the body where the needles are placed."** The variables in this blogger opinion piece are based on faulty assumptions. First, therapeutic effects can be elicited without penetrating the skin. Acupuncturists are well aware of this. This is not the variable. The variable is whether you are *stimulating* acupuncture meridians, including the meridian branches, and how those meridians interconnect and therefor interact on one another. Point location is a variable, true. However, there are multiple point selection groupings for specific complaints that are recognized as therapeutic within the meridian structure. (ie - it is not surprising that traditional point selection worked in a similar fashion to individualized point selection) Ironically, the untested control is still being assumed to be a proven placebo.... **What science shows is that acupuncture is no better than a placebo. What you CANNOT do is show that acupuncture is better than placebo.** Again. Exactly where is the evidence-based proof that the control procedure that an actual *placebo*?

Is dianetics any more crazy than acupuncture? Chinese medicine holds that there are hundreds of points on the body that link to invisible pathways for the body's vital energy, or qi. The theory goes that stimulating the correct points with acupuncture needles can release blocked qi. Here's an explanation of reactive mind: Take the example of child who is bitten by a dog. He experiences quite a bit of pain and some unconsciousness during this. However, also recorded in the reactive mind are the details of her environment, where she was, what it looked like, what she heard, etc. Everything. Get away from that mad dog! Later, as a child or an adult, she sees a similar dog to the one that bit her, or maybe even just hears a dog and is in a similar place - the reactive mind restimulates. She can reexperience the pain in that engram, both physical and emotional. lol I'm not a scientologist by the way but I've never heard of people being harassed over acupuncture.

after acupuncture my hand is numb - is it normal? Yesterday I had an acupuncture session. The doctor (skilled neurologists by the way) applied needles to four points in my body - the ones 10cm below my knees, and the ones between the thumb and the forefinger. When I woke up this morning, I feel that my left hand - just the hand - is a bit numb - not much, but anyway - all I wanted to ask you is to ensure if it is normal or if there is something wrong with me?
